You find that Karen is surprisingly insecure for a beautiful, former cheerleader. You scan Amber's mind and find that she thinks she is superior to everyone. You also read Bobby's mind and find that he has second thoughts about Amber as she is back in bitch mode. You call up Joe and find you can probe his mind through the phone. He and Jon are running from the cops, as law enforcement went beyond just Arron and a few delinquents. You try to jump in Jon's head through Joe. This doesn't work. You think to Jon's head and this isn't much better. You close your cell and think to Jon's head. This works as good as on someone in this house.

You learn that his Grand father has a place that is a short distance by boat. The Smith cottage where everyone is at is on the northern tip of a peninsula on a lake that is very long east to west. Grandpa Peters' (Angus William Peters to most) place is almost due north and only about four minutes by most motor boats. It is at least 40 minutes by land. You have Jon lead Joe, Jon's sister Ashley, and a few other's to old boat house on the west side of the peninsula. After they are in the boat and ready to go they make a lot of noise to draw the law enforcement agents to them.

Before you left Jon's mind you probed it to get a lock, you hope, on his brother Bill. You find Bill is with Tom, Tom's cousin Erica, and other's. You have some difficultly with Bill's head as you don't know him. Next to him are the Green twins from Smalltown . You are pretty sure Lacey is the one that always wears green. It is the only way to tell her and her sister Kacey apart. You try to read and control the twin in the green jacket and it is also fuzzy as you don't know her. Tom you know so you try that. That works. You have him butt dial himself and say it is Jon saying to tell Bill to get to the east shore docks as the cops are going west and to take all the boats to grandfather Peters'. He is to then meet Jon there.

You find that the Smith boys while smart are near shit for brains when it comes to running from the law. You have them run all boats dark and make sure that they take all the boats so the law can't commandeer one. Running dark is illegal but it is hard to prove. Grandpa Peters' place is in another county, the lake is ruled by the state cops and the shoreline by all three counties that border it. The shore belongs to the county it is in. Grandpa Peters is the North County version of Mr. Smith. Mrs. Smith is his oldest daughter and third of seven kids. He is known as a bit of an outlaw and controls the law in North County.

Joe, driving an older cruiser, was actually leading Jon across the dark lake. Jon was controlling his father's brand new house boat. Tom who is in many ways a dip shit, is experienced at running from the law. He is running the newer of the Smith's pontoon boats. His cousin expertly running the other pontoon boat. Erica, at twenty, has been operating boats half her life. Her dad is a beer distributor and a drunk. As his only child, she grew up enabling him, bringing him home from many parties. Mr. Peters was at his lakeside place and heard all the kids coming. Recognizing the leaders as his grand kids, and the rest as their friends, he helps them hide the boats and lends them three old vans he had there that were left from an old airport taxi company.

Three hours later he acts extra annoyed by the presence of law enforcement. The North County Sheriff is an old friend of Mr. Peters. The Sheriff knows that his friend does a lot of minor shit but that he also donates large sums to help control serious **** and will help in any serious matter. The Sheriff has with him deputies from Green River County. They claim that several drunk kids fled here. Mr. Peters pointed out that his dogs have been barking since they got here and woke him up. Don't they think kids being here would do the same? His Sheriff friend hides a smile as he knows that the dogs are trained to go to their masters side and whine if there is an intruder and that this is their barking-we need attention-aren't we harmless and adorable trick. The dogs will be rewarded with treats when the officers leave. The dogs also know his grand kids by smell and lick their hands as a greeting.
