You take the long route home, keen on not being murdered. Suddenly, a large explosion erupts from a nearby alley and a hulking shape is launched out, slamming into a wall, leaving cracks upon impact. Immediately following emerges a cloud of pitch-black smoke. The smoke re-solidifies into a man wearing a black cloak, wielding two shotguns, who soon aims them at the ape-looking mass. Your hand instinctively moves towards your switchblade, which you always carry for self defense.

The cloaked man doesn't seem to have noticed you yet. If you're fast, you may be able to get in a good stab or two. Alternatively, if you were to do what you suspect most people would do in such a situation and nope the fuck out of there, no one would be any the wiser.
