..Better Than You Expected

...Slightly better than you had expected as you saw the shy smile on her lips.

Which made what happened next all the more surprising.

“Thank you for this...talk,”

Her voice was soft as she pulled herself up off the bed and you felt your heart begin to race and then plummet as she began to pick her clothes off the floor.

“Are you going?” You ask with a hangdog expression.

“He’ll notice if I am not there when he slinks back home.” She admits as you watch her start to get dressed.

“Oh, ok.” You reply flatly, hating how meek you sound.

Angela smiled as she pulled on the last of her clothes and turned towards you. “But he spends a lot of nights out so...who knows.”

She shrugged then before heading out the door and leaving you to ponder just what had happened. You knew something had changed but you couldn’t put your finger on it.

As it turned out it would be another week before you found out just how much had changed.
