Betsy Presses The Issue

Betsy keeps a close eye on Buddy, and he's kept giving her these looks. It's not just lust...she's come to expect that, but something deeper down. She's beginning to wonder about him...what's going on behind those cute eyes of his. She returns to him with a big smile.

"Something's on your mind, sweetheart," she says, "remember, you can tell me anything. What's going on?"

She runs a large yet soft hand over his cheek. Buddy has been fighting with himself for some time, and now he's got to say something. He clears his throat and plunges right in, ready for anything from a passionate kiss to a punch in the face (although his major hope is for the former and not the latter.)

"Betsy," he says, "I...I been thinking a long time. I can't deny the way I feel. All the time I've been here with you...well, I'm sure you know already that I was attracted to you from the start, and the more I know you, the more I love about you...I guess that's what I need to say. I've...I've fallen in love with you. I mean...I'll understand if'n you don't feel the same way, but I figured...I should tell you...just so you know."

Buddy swallows hard. He hadn't meant it to come out like that. He'd wanted to be suave and charming, to sweep her off her feet...and instead...well, whatever the case, at least he'd told her.

Betsy, for her part, is floored. She's always seen him as a little squirt...although now, taking a step back, Buddy has changed into a man right before her eyes. Maybe not a big, muscle-bound strapping fellow...but certainly a man...and with enough courage to tell her what is on his mind, and certainly he seems to be head over heels for her...and not just for her body, she believes that. The two of them stand facing each other, him looking up to look into her eyes...
