Robin backed out of the parking space and slowly pulled into traffic. Meanwhile, Darla pulled out her phone and tapped on the screen with her manicured fingers for a bit.

She held the phone up as a call on the speaker stared to ring. After a few rings, the other end picked up and a cheerful woman’s voice said, “Hello! Thanks for calling ‘Lana’s Spa and Salon.’ How May I help you?”

Darla grinned and winked at Kyle. “Julie! It’s Darla!”

“Darla! How are you? Coming in soon?”

“Yep! Appointments for four, on Wednesday, if you have the spots.”

“Listen, I...” Kyle started to say. Darla held up her index finger, essentially cutting him off.

“Sure,” Julie said. “We can slot four in on Wednesday. We’re pretty open. What were you thinking?”

“Party this weekend,” Darla said. “We need the works. Waxing, massages, sauna, mani/pedis, makeup, hair... You know, a relaxing spa day!.”

“Sounds good,” Julie said.

“Oh! Before I forget, Kylie, our new bestie, is trying to entice a guy. We want extra attention for her. We want her looking like a goddess when she leaves!”

Kylie was shaking his head, mouthing “No” but Darla held up the finger again.

“Great,”. Julie said. “Kylie’s man won’t stand a chance. We’ll see the four of you Wednesday at 10 AM.”

“Perfect!” Darla said. “See you then! Bye!”

“Bye”

Darla clucked off the phone.

“There. We’ll all be stunning for the party. And you, Missy,” she pointed a finger at Kyle, “your goal is to get a date with Rob!”

“Listen, Darla,” Kyle started to say.

“We’re here!” Robin said, pulling into a strip mall and parking, pulling on the parking brake.

Kyle looked at the stores. Clubwear, shoes, lingerie, a cafe that he was sure would be described as cute...

The girls started piling out of the car, and Kyle had little choice but to follow
