Chapter 5
by Tnaisawesome
How do you respond?
Be supportive, but confident
"Hey, is everything okay?" you say and sit down on the couch, next to Tatiana. Eve and Chloe are on the opposite couch.
"Oh, hi. No, not really. I had this god-awful dinner date the other day with this guy I matched with on Tinder. He was supposed to be this big shot business consultant {if Ring_active=true}with a big dick and everything{endif}, but he turned out to be a complete dud. He was more interested in talking about himself than asking me any questions. And to top it off, he showed up to the restaurant wearing an ill-fitted suit with a stained shirt. I was mortified."
"I'm sorry you had to go through that. It's just not acceptable for someone to treat a {if Ring_active=true}classy{else}decent{endif} lady like you that way. You deserve better than that," you say{if Ring_active}, shocked that she would use words like "big dick". You guess she's been having more than a few of those wine glasses{endif}.
"Well, {if Ring_active=true}although I appreciate the compliment, {endif}John, I don't know what you could possibly do about it. It's not like you have any control over how other people behave. Plus, it's not like we're even friends or anything. You're just my friend's husband," she adds, taking a sip of her wine.
Chloe pisses you off sometimes. You try to control yourself, breathing slowly.
"I may not have control over how other people behave, but I do have control over how I treat you. And I want to treat you with respect and kindness, even if we're not close friends yet. I think we have the potential to be good friends, and I hope you'll give me a chance to prove to you that I am a worthy husband to Riley."
Riley returns from the bathroom during your little speech, and senses the tension in the room.
"I appreciate the gesture, but I'm just not sure I see the point. Like I said, it's not like we have anything in common," Chloe replies.
"Hey, what's wrong?" your wife asks, sitting down on the arm of the couch, next to you.
"Oh, just venting about this terrible date I had the other day. This guy was so full of himself, and for no reason. I had to sit through a dinner with that douche going on and on about his success at work."
"God, that sounds terrible," Riley says and turns to you. "John, I'm so proud of you for being such a supportive and understanding guy, even though it doesn't seem to be appreciated," she adds, looking at Chloe with a mean eye.
"Thanks, I just want to be there for your friends. It's not right for anyone to be treated the way Chloe was treated on that date," you say, before standing up.
All four of the women are looking at you as you walk closer to Chloe, grinning.
"Now, if it were me on that date, I would have been interested in knowing more about you and your interests. Like, what do you do for fun, apart from dating, I guess?"
Chloe seems to warm up to you, and breaks into the tiniest smile.
"Well, if you really want to know, I'm really into snowboarding at the moment. I like to go to the hills at least twice a week."
"Wow, that sounds like so much fun{if Ring_active=true}, and it must be really good exercise for your butt and thighs?" you add, taking a slightly bigger risk to heat up the conversation{else}!"{endif}.
"You bet. {if Ring_active=true}I mean, have you checked out this peach?" she laughs, waves her hand. "Of course you have!"
"You caught me," you say, nodding while you grin, and your wife slaps your arm.
"Honey!" she complains, but with a twinkle in her eye.
"What?!" you protest, "I'm not gonna lie to my new best friend here? She's got a fantastic ass, and so do you. Actually, all four of you are very attractive. There, are you happy, now?"
"You're so, silly, sweetie," Riley laughs and ruffles up your hair. You pat her leg, leaving it there, your hand grasping her inner thigh a little higher up than you would in public.{else}I really like it. You two should come one day and try it!
"Sounds like a plan," you say.{endif}
"Well, I'm so glad you have found such a caring and thoughtful friend in my husband. He really is the best. Don't you steal him from me now!"
Chloe laughs.
"I guess I never gave you a chance. I'm sorry for being so dismissive before. It's just that I've had some really bad experiences with men and it's made me a little skeptical. {if Ring_active}Besides, you always gave me this 'beta male' vibe, but I think maybe I was wrong?"{endif}
"I think you've been dating too long," you say{if Ring_active=true}, "and have forgotten what a good partner should be like. Is it 'beta' to care, to be supportive and a good listener? Like, do you think I can't fuck my wife's brains out just 'cause I do the dishes?"
You say it with such a confident, cool voice, that you take the women by surprise.
"John?!" you wife says, shocked.
"What?"
"I-," she starts protesting. "You can't just say that in front of my friends. I mean, it's true, you are great in bed, and you do the dishes, but..."
"Well, Chloe needs to hear it," you say confidently, " and stop believing in this alpha and beta male bullshit."
{else}, and have forgotten what qualities you really want in a guy.{endif}
"I guess you're right, honey," your wife says and kisses you.
