Backyard fun...

Looking nervously at the controls of the Blackbird and keeping the vessel steady with shaking hands, Nightcrawler looked around and peered out the windows, shaking like a leaf as he checked the gauges on the dashboard and whispered “Ten and two, ten and two…” Over and over to himself to stay focused. Sitting across from him, both bored and pre-occupied with her phone, Kitty Pride checked off a mark on a clip board in her lap and pointed over at a gauge in front of the pilot seat. “Good, good… You’re keeping the vessel steady, how about we do a quick fly by of the mansion.”

“Do we have to? Can’t we just… You know, land? I’m not good with heights…” He asked innocently, giving the woman a beaming smile that broke down quickly when she gave him a disinterested look.

“Nuh uh, the professor wants you to finish your flight exam so you can fly this bird on missions… And deliveries.”

“Deliveries?”

“Yeah, the Professor thinks its more time efficient to just use the Blackbird instead of making online orders or cross-country shipping.”

“Why do I need to fly when I can just teleport?” Disappearing with a poof of black smoke, Nightcrawler left Shadowcat at the cockpit with no one behind the wheel. Dropping everything and scrambling to take control of the blackbird before it dropped like a rock, the woman looked up to another poof of black smoke to see Nightcrawler return with a paper bucket full of popcorn and a soda in hand. “See? You want some popcorn from Coney isl…”

“GET YOUR HANDS BACK ON THE STEERING WEHEEL!!!!!”

Looking up from his seat on the rear balcony of the Institute, sipping at a cool drink in his hand and watching the Blackbird teeter and tilt back and forth like a kite fluttering in the wind, Professor Xavier smiled at the source of free entertainment which was only briefly interrupted by the arrival of Scott who sat opposite from him at the small table. The man leaning back in his cushioned chair and looking up to where the professor’s attention was fixed to.

“Kitty’s trying to teach Kurt how to fly again?” He asked, getting a nod back from his teacher who sported a knowing grin. Crossing his arms and bring a hand to his mouth to stifle a laugh, the two men chuckled out loud when Emma soon joined the two from inside the institute and looked up at what the two men were giggling at, rolling her eyes and sighing

“Honestly, Professor, you KNOW Kurt has trouble with heights, why teach him how to fly?”

“Because Emma, it amuses me to see Kitty panic with a teleporter behind the wheel of a harrier jet.” Leaning back in his wheelchair, Xavier sipped from his iced tea and smiled up to the White Queen. “Case in point, read Kitty’s mind and tell me that isn’t funny.”

Looking up and narrowing her eyes to look up into the Black Bird and the minds of the two at the cockpit, Emma’s gaze quickly went wide, and a smile pursed her white lips when she pictured the woman’s thoughts. Screaming, fuming, and cursing bloody **** silently in her head, Kitty desperately kept the flying vessel aloft while Kurt ate popcorn. Looking back to Xavier who gave her a knowing look back, Emma sat with the two and poured her own drink from the table. “You are a sick man Charles.”

"Well, when jogging is out of the question and you've pretty much seen everything through the eyes of everyone else, you got to find your entertainment somehow. And this? Pff... This is just plain funny." Sharing a good laugh, the trio sat and enjoyed the ‘air show’ over head. When Charles went to pick up his drink for another sip, a small tremor caused the tea to ripple. Looking down at the table, the three watched as the same small tremor occurred again, the tea rippling in his glass each time. Then looking out from his spot on the deck, he could see trees being toppled down by something approaching. Something BIG. “Oh dear…”

Everyone out on the field stopped what they were doing to look over to the tree line of the property and what was approaching their school. Stomping out into the open and making her way down the grassy field, the towering bulk of Mystique made itself known. Tossing her long red hair over her shoulder, the giant hulking reptile woman stood out in the clearing with her hands at her wide hips and smiling down at the dozens of students fleeing back to the safety of the mansion. Collossus dropped what he was doing and fell to his knees in horror at the sight of the giant zilla woman, eyeing him up and licking her fanged lips at the sight of the chrome metal man. “RUN! SHE’S BACK! SHE’S COME BACK TO FINISH THE JOB!!!” Scrambling back to his feet, Peter ran for his life, practically leaping over his students to get away from the 60-foot-tall monster woman.

“Morning Charles… Lovely day isn’t it?” Mystique called out with her booming loud voice, her fanged smile never leaving her lips.

“Mystique, you’re looking… Bigger.”

“Why THANK you Charles, I’ve been EATING more.”

“So, you’ve escaped from the Vault have you Mystique? Well, what makes you think NOW is going to be any different than last month?

“Because…” Snapping her clawed fingers, a horde of zillas just as big and monstrous as she was stomped out of the trees to join her. Over a dozen of them in different colours leered down at the mansion and licked at their chops at the potential meal within. “I’ve brought some friends… And they are VERY hungry to meet you!”
