Back to the Farm

After what seems like hours Lorelei looks up at you “what now” she asks.

“Well we don’t have many choice we have no food, no shelter, and you have no clothes I’m pretty sure the mutants stripped your families compound of most everything but maybe we can find something “ you say.

“But what if they’re still there “ says Lorelei with a shiver.

“I kinds of doubt it these bands normally move fast for before patrols from Newtown find them” You assure her.

She gets up putting the blanket around her as best she can as the two of you head south back to the ruins of her previous life. After walking for three hour you come back to the farm sure enough they burnt the house down but you decide to see if you can find anything of value. As the two of you walk up to the remains of the mutant camp you see two bodies one of Lorelei’s wood be **** and her father Farmer Marsdale.

Lorelei breaks into tears again and with a cry of “Papa” she runs to her slain father she sits down and puts his lifeless head in her lap. At a loss of what to do for her you walk over to her and put your hand on her shoulder and she leans into your hand as she cries out the horror of the last two days. You leave the gun you took from the mutant last night as you go into the compound to look for supplies.

You quickly ascertain that anything in the house at the time of the fire is long gone but as you look around the yard you spy a fallen clothes line and as luck you have it you find a dress, three pairs of trousers, a Mans shirt, and a blanket they were dirty and covered in soot but usable. After bringing the clothes back out to her you notice that her father’s corpse still had his boots on.

“Here’s some clothes Lorelei and I know you wont want to but you need to take your fathers boots” You tell her. Lorelei absently nods to your request and as you turn your back to head back into the ruined compound she asks you “Greg where’s my mama’s body “

You didn’t find her body in the yard nor was there remains in the house, and when you think back to the night before you don’t recall seeing her at all. “I haven’t found your momma’s body honey “ you tell her.
“Mama “ she moans as she start to weep again. Leaving her to her sorrow you head back into the compound again and start sifting through the devastation for anything edible.

While searching for food you notice something that was hidden by the fallen timbers of the house you see a set of doors at the back of house set into the ground. Thinking it’s a storm or root seller you head around back but just before you open them you hear movement inside. Steeling yourself for anything you draw your weapon and jerk open the door.
