Chapter 7 by FredWeasleyLives1 FredWeasleyLives1

Do I find a job?

Back to school

It is Tuesday and I am in the office of the town school for a job interview that my hot flame got for me. At the moment, my girlfriend Holly is teaching science to her class of elementary school kids. I am so glad that my beautiful buxom girlfriend is not watching me jump through the principal's flaming hoops during this interview because I would be much too distracted looking at her to get anything done. The most important part of the interview seems to be typing. I became a typing whiz during my stay at Piquant Press. Half of the job that I had in New York was typing manuscripts which improved my skills considerably. I don't want to jinx myself but I think that my old job will be the perfect in for the job I am applying for now. I not only had to type for this interview, but I had to file papers and answer phones. When it is all over, the principal tells me that I should know if I got the job by the end of the day tomorrow.

I look at my wristwatch and see that I am going to be just in time to have lunch with Holly so head out into the hallway just as the school bell rings. I see a whole bunch of polished lockers and shiny walls. I can also see a trophy case that displays my old school's athletic accomplishments. I am proud that the people who run my old stomping grounds take so much pride in the decor. What does not make me happy is that there is nobody I know left in this place. Practically everyone I know graduated a long time ago and went after their own futures. Scratch that. I see two people that I know very well quickly approaching me. I see that those two people are my brother Dylan and his girlfriend Avery walking hand in hand. Dylan is wearing a red shirt and blue jeans while Avery is wearing a pretty plaid dress.

"Did you have your job interview?" Dylan wondered.

"Either that or I came here just to make sure that you aren't getting into trouble," I teased which made my brother blush. It also made Avery cover her mouth in an effort to keep herself from laughing. I can tell by the way her face muscles are moving that she did not quite succeed.

"I hope that you get the job," Dylan commented with a smile.

"Are you sure that you won't be too embarrassed having your big sister working in the same building where you go to school?" I jibe again which brought out a definite laugh from Avery this time.

"Not as long as you won't be too embarrassed to be that close to me everyday," Dylan rebutted which brought a big smile to my face.

"I love how the two of you express your love for each other," my brother's steady complimented us while laughing.

Avery stopped laughing abruptly which makes me think something was wrong. It seemed that Avery was about to tell me something, but she changed her mind at the last second. I wanted to know why my brother's girlfriend changed her mind about warning me so I was about to turn around when a pair of hands quickly covered my eyes. If anyone other than my girlfriend had done it, I would have totally freaked out and ran away. Now I know why Avery did not warn me about the impending game. My beau must have gave her a nonverbal cue that told her to stay out of it. Since Holly seems so intent on playing games with me, it seems only fair that I return the favor.

"Guess who?" Holly insisted.

"J-Lo?" I teased.

"No," Holly sighed.

"Julia Roberts?" I continued to jibe.

"Are you trying to annoy me?" Holly whined.

"Ah, it must be Holly!" I gave in.

Holly took her hands off my eyes and folded her arms across her chest. She was acting mad, but I could tell by the look in her eyes and by the way the corners of her lips were pointed up slightly that she was happy to see me.

"You'll have to excuse my sister, Miss Wright," Dylan commented mournfully. "She is in one of her moods today."

"I am well aware of her moods, Dylan," Holly complained.

"You know you love it," I spoke with a devilish grin.

"It is a good thing for you that you are so cute!" Holly playfully snapped. "I would have to get **** against you if you weren't!"

"I think you two make a cute couple," Avery spoke with dreamy eyes.

"I am glad that you feel that way," I responded with a warm smile.

"Are you ready to eat lunch yet?" Holly asked me.

"You bet!" I answered.

"We better go eat lunch ourselves," Dylan commented while looking at his watch.

"See you later, you two," I acknowledged.

"Bye," Avery replied with a friendly wave as the two students left hand in hand. Seeing those two together made me feel so proud of myself since I was the one who helped set them up over the holidays.

"How did the job interview go?" Holly wondered as we headed towards the teacher's lounge.

"I think it went well," I replied with a shrug of my shoulders.

"I would love it if we could work in the same place," Holly spoke with a little bit of a sexy leer.

"If I get the job, we will have be professional about it," I debated.

"I know the 'Guess Who' game wasn't professional, but I couldn't resist," Holly mused. "It made me feel like a kid again."

"I don't think anyone will complain about it," I guessed as if I didn't care.

We had arrived at the teacher's lounge and even though I had an invitation to enter, I couldn't help but look both ways to make sure no one was watching. The teacher's lounge was always one of the most taboo places for me when I was a kid.

"You know that you can come in here with me," Holly chided. "Besides, if anyone tries to kick you out, they will have to answer to me!"

I entered the teacher's lounge with my girlfriend and future housemate to find a salad bar in the center of the room which is what the two of us would be eating for lunch. There are several tables with checkered tablecloths and chairs placed around the the centerpiece. There is also a juice machine sitting against the far wall. It seems so weird for me to come in here and not have anyone notice me. No one noticed but Holly, that is.

"So what do you think of the teacher's lounge?" Holly wondered with searching eyes as we both start piling salad onto our plates.

"I am a little disappointed," I complained.

"Why?" Holly probed.

"When I was a kid, I had all of these fantasies about what was in here," I explained. "I pictured a secret passageway leading to a top secret spy organization where people train to save the world."

"I am sorry to disappoint you, but the most exciting thing that we have is this salad bar and we just got it at the start of the school year," Holly spoke to shoot down all of my childhood fantasies.

"As long as you're here, that's good enough for me," I flirted while batting my eyelashes.

"Aw, how sweet my girlfriend is!" Holly cooed while touching my right arm. I would rather that she kissed me, but we both knew that we had to stay professional in this place. I didn't want to give the school any reason not to hire me.

While we were making our salads, I noticed a minor difference between Holly and myself. Holly liked to put plenty of beets on her salad while I couldn't stand them. That doesn't mean anything to me. She can have all of the beets she wants as she doesn't sneak any of them onto my plate. I am sure that Holly will discover a few things that she doesn't like about me once we move in together. We have had plenty of time to get used to each others' quirks since we have known each other since we both started junior high so that shouldn't be a problem. I thought about this while I got a grape juice from the vending machine and Holly got carrot juice. I was distracted from these thoughts as soon as we took our seats.

"I have thought about what your mother said about us taking up hobbies," Holly put out.

"Oh?" I asked with an amused smile.

"I already play the piano so I am covered," Holly mused.

"Now I have to decide on a hobby for me," I thought out loud while scratching my head.

"May I make a suggestion?" Holly wondered.

"I am always ready to take advice from my favorite girl," I responded with a flirty eye wink.

"You should paint pictures," Holly practically insisted. "You were great at it in high school."

"I haven't done that since I joined the workforce," I pondered.

"I will make you a deal," Holly offered. "I will buy you an easel and a new paint set if you take up painting again."

"How can I resist such a pretty face?" I responded with my best smile. "I only hope that I get this job so I can see it more often."

"I think you will," Holly responded with her most positive face.
