BSW Day 10 - You stay

You can't even read the stupid book, so you better stay. "Go," you tell Lara, who nods and darts away. The doors starts rattling as Beth bangs on it, the demonic noises growing louder. You scream as her hand breaks through, her fingers and nails transformed into long, scary claws. Her eye appears through the break in the door.

"Rileeey," she growls. "Let's play." That's so not Beth! She never calls you Riley. It's always 'love' or 'babe' or something. She's possessed or something. Damn! You should have paid more attention in Sunday School.

"Ahhh!" you scream as she breaks through the door. You jump over the couch and throw the first thing you grab at her. It's a pillow, and she shreds it out of the air with her claws, filling the room with feathers. Using the feathers as a smokescreen, you dash into the hall, but you can hear her behind you.

"Riiileey!" she hisses. You duck through a door and slam it behind you, but doors can't stop her. It's a bathroom. You shove the shelf in front of the door and open the window, climbing out as you hear her inhuman strength battering down the door. In retrospect, just breaking into this cabin was probably a bad idea.

You crash to the ground outside and scramble up, wondering where to go. Into the spooky woods? How is that even better? Now it's all misty and gross out here... You glance back and jump. Beth is right there, looking straight at you through the window with her white face and red eyes. She is... not cute like this. You rush around to the front of the cabin and bust back in, finding Lara near the dying fire, struggling to read the book.

"Aha," she says. "I have it." She reads a few lines. Nothing happens. "Did it work?" you ask, looking around worriedly. You don't see Beth... or hear her. "I don't know," she replies. Super helpful. You better go find her and see. You and Lara tiptoe to the bedroom, trying not to step on the broken bits of the door. She's not in there. You go to the hallway... no sign of her. The cabin is totally quiet. The floorboards creak as you go to the window and get up on your toes to look through...Beth is lying on the ground out there. She looks normal.

Lara joins you, looking worried. "Maybe it's a trick," she says, eying the ax by the woodpile.

"No," you say, appalled. "That's my girlfriend."

"It's not really her," Lara protests.

"Didn't you break the curse or whatever?"

"I don't know!"

"We aren't doing anything with axes," you tell her firmly.

"You want to fuck with that?" Lara asked, pointing at Beth.

"You've been trying to fuck her for a week!" you shout angrily. You argue a bit more, then cautiously go outside to check on her. Beth seems to just be sleeping.

Nervously, you and Lara carry her inside and put her on the couch, tucking her in. She seems to be OK. No injuries or anything... You and Lara sit down by the fire to wait until morning. It's definitely safer at the Lodge than it is out here...
