Attention Magnet
Every bit of attention causes a shudder even as the SynthSkin continues to carry him forward in the exaggerated manner. If it was not handling the daunting heels for him, he'd ask to turn it off, but he has a feeling he'd look a lot more conspicuous tripping over himself constantly and missing his appointment than with his rump wagging like a dog in heat. It's hard to say if this is a 'normal' way of walking to the AI, or if it was done because of Vanessa's request, but it certainly synergizes with the idea of wanting attention.
Trying not to focus too heavily on the people as they clearly gawk at him, he begins to examine the amenities. It's not as if Matt hadn't see the outside of the resort on his way over, but he was having to be calculated in his approach and minimize how much he was being seen. It's much different now; being **** to mince forward in little steps allows him to take a closer look at what's available
The resort is almost like a small town, with branded stores, eateries, and clubs along the paved path near the top of the beachfront where the tide comes up. Several different tall buildings serve as the housing, with what Matt imagines to be similar suites to his own—well, Vanessa's own. There's also a taller, centralized building that looks like a mix of a casino and mall. Had he not been stuck like this and having to take Vanessa's 'appointment,' it would have been nice to go check it out.
Another chime in Matt's ear sounds before the AI starts to speak again. "Vanessa, you have your sunbathing activity in 5 minutes." Matt wants to tell the AI to stop talking to him, but with more and more people starting to surround him, he doesn't want to do anything extra to bring attention to himself, let alone do something seemingly-crazy like talk to himself.
Instead, he just saunters onward, high heels clicking on the pavement as if to signal his arousal, much to his own dismay. "Approaching destination," the AI chimes again. "Activating biometric scanners to better inform you of progress toward your goal."
Goal? What goal? His goal was sunbathing, right? Of course, he doesn't remember what Vanessa had requested, word-for-word. "Highlighting optimal sunbathing location," it adds, this time not chiming and merely piggybacking off the last thing it had said. "Vanessa, please blink to see markers set by the inner eyelid of your SynthSkin."
Of course, there's no way for Matt to defiantly decide not to blink, so eventually he does. Rather than see nothing, his inner eyelid has a projection of what he would see were his eyes still open, though with a bold yellow outline around a spot on the beach not too far from the path. If he weren't stuck in a needlessly-curvy body, he might have found this technology particularly cool.
By now, his sashaying his hips by dozens of people who are either out to start staffing the different venues, or the affluent elites out to get breakfast. The beach is mercifully empty, except for some people down by the water; surfers catching some morning waves, it would seem. He doesn't even notice that his spot is just outside a gym with a large outdoor section, though there isn't many people working out there quite yet; the AI had chosen the spot because it's about to open!
"Vanessa, a Diamond Sands employee has placed an sun umbrella for you to mark the are. Please see the marker."
"I know," he whispers back to himself, aggravated.
Matt's walking becomes especially slow on the sand, and he finally looks to his right to notice the fenced-off area with pull-up bars, weights, and other exercise paraphernalia is being kept, right on the beach. Looking further up away from the beach, the paved path splits into that area, with a gym right at the fork. "Oh god..." he groans to himself as he rolls the towel out, just now realizing that the pink towel says 'SINGLE & LOOKING' in bold, dark purple lettering.
The moment he lays the towel out, a chime sounds in his ear again, but different than the normal one. "Vanessa, this chime denotates the Biometric Scanner. You may change settings on this additional feature using your phone."
Thank god there's some sort of control he can exercise over this. However, before he can even fish the phone out of the tiny purse, the Biometric Scanner chime sounds again, the voice mostly the same, if a bit quieter: "There are [14] adult males fitting the description [hunk] within 1000 feet."
"What?!..." Matt yelps to himself, turning around as if this was some sort of warning more than just 'useful information.' Blinking, he briefly sees that his inner eyelids are now highlighting what the AI deems to be hunks. Not only that, it's making everything else blurred to further emphasize their presence. It's hard for Matt to not feel like prey all of a sudden; a fish swimming among sharks.
"How long do I have to stay here?!" he whispers loudly before anyone can come up. The AI chimes: "You have scheduled two hours for sunbathing, unless you pick a suitable hunk to proceed to another activity early," it replies.
