Attack the Z'orlock from behind

Jason knew he'd benefit if the hunters in the jeep were gone but he also knew the Z'orlock had his scent and would hunt him if it survived the encounter. His best hope was for the giant beast to be defeated here and then to deal with the gang in the jeep. Heck, they might even retreat after this.

Taking up a defensive position on the edge of the newly formed crater, the mercenary aimed and took a shot at the back of the beast. Hey hadn't fought a Z'orlock before but had studied the nightmare creature and knew the fleshy pads by the top of its rear legs were a weak spot.

A few blasts in and he had the Z'orlock's attention. The purple horror began to spin around, trying to face its new foe.

The surviving fighters from the jeep seized their chance, pulling back to a better position behind the wrecked car for shelter and then returning their combined fire onto the beast. They wore guard uniforms but knew how to fight like soldiers.

The giant went down one leg at a time, weakened and unable to support its own vast weight.

Grimes checked the energy supply on his blaster; 15% left. Time to stop shooting. The final shot came from behind the jeep, a blast that tore a hole straight through the monster's head. He could hear the cheers of celebration from the crashed car.

It was time to go. Jason eased himself over the rim of the huge dirt pit the beast had hidden in and started to run. A grove of trees nearby would hide him.

Just a few strides into his escape and Jason heard an almighty, fleshy, ripping sound. Something had caused the still smoking corpse of the Z'orlock to rupture, spewing meat, bones and internal liquid into the air.

Even as the black fluid fell to the ground, covering Jason and the survivors from the jeep in goo, he remembered some sort of warning about the venom sacks on dead Z'orlocks.
