At the Mercy of Mr. Abeyance

Diana woke up some time later. She found herself in a featureless black void, the only light provided by a harsh hooded bulb directly above her. She'd been bound on her knees, thick metal clasps and vises holding her limbs and torso in place. Clearing her head, she struggled to free herself, but her bindings held fast in spite of her enormous strength.

"Don't bother, those are Nth Metal bonds." A voice spoke.

Looking up, Diana spotted the same man from before walking into the light. As before, she found her eyes drifting away from him every time she attempted to focus on him. What matter of man was this?

"Wh-Who are you?" She demanded. "What is the meaning of this? Why have you-"

"Hush now." The man said. "Everything will be clear in due time. Though, I'm afraid by the time that happens, you'll already be quite doomed."

"How dare you threaten me!" Diana snapped. Her muscles strained and she fought against her bindings once more. "Once I'm free of this trap, I'll show you the true fury of an amazon!"

The man chuckled. "My dear, once you're free of that trap, you'll be quite at my mercy."

He stalked up to her, pulling a strange crimson bud from my pocket. kneeling next to her, he inserted the bud into her ear. To Diana's horror, she felt the bud dig into her ear and into her skull. Somehow, it did this without drawing blood or marring her flesh, leaving behind no evidence of its existence. And yet, Diana could still feel it somehow, sitting just at the back of her mind.

With a look of profound smugness on his face, the man rose and slipped a similar black bud into his own ear. This one however, did not burrow into his skin the same way hers had.

"There." He said. "All done."

Plucking a remote from his pocket, the man pressed a button, and Diana felt her bonds slip away.

"Now then, Wonder Woman," The man said, that smug look still plastered across his face. "You said something about showing me the true fury of an Amazon?"
