Alice dusted off her skirt as she waited in line. The convention center she stood in front of was packed to the brim with eager nerds like her. She had been waiting for ages for the Heroes and Villains Convention to stop by her hometown. Now, she was in line waiting for her friends to arrive. Alice secretly hoped her Lady Freedom costume was accurate enough. It was awkward enough wearing a black bustier and red shorts, but the red cape barely covered her back.
"Hey! Alice!"
Alice breathed a sigh of relief as she heard Edmund call out to her. She turned around to see her friends coming towards her in their own costumes. Josie was dressed in a metal bustier with a skirt lined with armor. A fake sword was sheathed at her side.
Edmund had arrived painted entirely in gray paint and wearing black pants. He was shirtless and had an intricate tattoo drawn on his chest. A toy blaster hung by his waist.
"Glad you guys made it!" Alice said before staring at Edmund's chest. "Whoa, Edmund! I didn't think you'd do it!"
"Kind of had to, didn't I?" Edmund asked. "The Star Seeker's always shirtless in the comics!"
"I'm just surprised you're not in the fantasy costume this year," Alice said.
"We wanted to switch it up," Josie explained. "And I promised him that if he wears the sci-fi costume this year, I promise not to nag him about how much better Marvel is than DC."
"I think you got that backwards," Edmund said.
"Nope! Stopping this right now!" Alice warned. "We came to this convention for fun, not to argue again!"
Edmund and Josie shrugged. "Yeah; a deal's a deal," Josie agreed.
Alice smiled and turned back around as the line finally began to enter the building.
