Ask her what she does.

"So are you from here? What do you?", you ask.

"Yeah, I was born here. I'm an automail mechanic.", she replies.

"Really! How long have you been doing that?", you ask.

"Pretty much my whole life."

You have a surprised look at that. "You must be pretty good", you offer.

"I'm still studying. I'm not the best, yet, but I'm working on it", tells you.

"Very ambitious", you compliment her.

"Yeah, well, I know what I want", she replies. "If only he would stay here or let me tag along more", she thinks to herself.

Your small talk continues for awhile. She tells you about the advancements in automail she would like to make, and arm and leg she's particularly proud of building, and she begins being fairly flirtatious. As time goes on you decide to be a bit more bold.
