"What did you mean, when you said half your memories were blank?" Jesse asked, unable to restrain the curiosity any longer.

Franceska ran a hand up through the back of her long, reddish-brown hair. The first sign of any slight discomfort she had in discussing any topic so far. "Wait… your real father? If he just came and bought you under the table from a Home… How would you know?"

The glower this received could have melted plate glass… The reply offered nothing but an end to the conversation: "Because. he. told. me."

Even Fran got a hold of that one. She quickly switched over to Lizzy. "Your turn, little 'un. What dark secrets are you hiding?"

The small creature of clearly East-Asian descent could only grin shyly. "Oh, I'm not very exciting really… I got a sponsor to be here too, but it's just one of the board of directors of the Home I'm from. He took a liking to me on a corporate inspection once and said he'd 'bump my numbers' to get me in here. So… I'm not really as special as all you guys. I just got lucky, I guess…" She shuffled her feet a little, clearly uncomfortable being the centre of attention. Jesse was struck by how, in a school entirely comprised of submissive teenagers, how many different colors of that base characteristic there were.

He in turn was interrogated for a little of his background, offering what he was happy to... about Betsy and Whitney and Daniel.
