Anna, an employee at a fast food restaurant

Whoever said that life begins after high school was a fucking liar. Anna had now driven the same beat-up car to the same fast food joint day after day for the past three years. By now, she had hoped to have finally gotten enough money for college - or at least a new car - and start studying to get a real job. But with the piss-poor paychecks she had been receiving, she was stuck in a dead-end job until a miracle happened. Or another five years, whichever came first.

Parking her car in the massive lot, she quickly got out and headed for the employee entrance. Anna was already dressed in her uniform and ready to work, but she knew that wouldn't please her manager, Jill. Jill was the kind of person who should not be given any kind of power. She was too eager to lord herself over anyone who answered to her, be it employees or customers. Nothing was good enough for her. But she somehow managed to get the company money, despite insulting the customers, so corporate refused to do anything.

True to form, Jill was waiting by the clock-in area to bitch to Anna. "You're late, Anna."

Anna just rolled her eyes. She was clearly five minutes early. Jill saying people were late was like a cat meowing: it's how she greeted you because the word, "Hello" was just impossible to say.

"Where do you need me today?" Anna asked not in the mood to argue.

"Well, you're actually lucky," Jull said. "We've got a few openings. I guess it's true that no one wants to work anymore."

Right, because it can't possibly be the fact that you're a complete and utter bitch, Anna thought.

"So, here's the deal, Anna," Jill said. "We've got a spot in the kitchen for cooking, you can take orders at the front dining hall, you can work the drive-thru, or we can put you on delivery for online orders and pizza."

Anna took a second to think. She hated the customers that usually came in anyway, so it was just a matter of which job sucked the least.
