Leon was conspicuously absent from dinner, and Vicky caught Helena in passing to ask where he was. Helena whispered that the stress of suddenly having so many people to see had gotten to him, so he was resting in his room and did not want to be disturbed.

Garnet's parents were on cooking duty that night, and had devoted themselves solely to preparing her meals. Despite their efforts, Garnet still saw fit to complain about every little mistake, finally throwing a tantrum over the state of her peas and storming out of the dining hall with her parents in tow. This eased the mood in the dining hall, but it meant that the family members responsible for cleaning that night were not only shorthanded but had Garnet's mess on top of their existing workload.
