As the punishment continued, Anastasia let go of Cinderella’s leg. “What are you doing?” Lady Tremaine said. “I didn’t tell you to stop.”
“Oh, mother, we’ve done enough,” Anastasia said. “I’m sure Cindy has learned her lesson. Right, Cindy?”
Cinderella sniffled and nodded. “Y-yeah… I… I’ve learned my lesson.”
Lady Tremained narrowed her eyes at Anastasia but then straightened her back. “Very well… but you are to stay in your room until I say so. Now, Drizella, Anastasia, let’s go…”
Lady Tremaine took point and Drizella filed out looking smug and Anastasia reluctantly followed pausing at the door as Cinderella hunched over her bed, crying. Cinderella noticed Anastasia’s pause and mouthed ‘Thank you’. Anastasia nodded and slowly followed her mother out the door.
