An unnerving talk with Dr. King

Gunnar tried to act calm as he chatted with Dr. King.

"I looked into those terms you gave me, and the thing is, they've only very recently come to light. The network sapiens concept, and the discovery of Homo zarbaibai, there's been buzz about both of those only in the past few days, they're definitely predated by your coma. Are you sure you haven't had any updates from someone, over a phone or a computer or something?"

"None, Doctor. I've been stuck in this room all this time."

Dr. King didn't look very convinced, but he let it pass. "I don't know what to tell you. I personally do not believe in ESP, mental telepathy, any of that -- but if what you say is true, that's the only explanation I can think of right now."

Gunnar actually rather liked the sound of that. He hadn't told Dr. King the craziest detail of all, only that "some disembodied voice" had spoken to him that did not deign to identify itself, but he had been intrigued enough to ask Dr. King to look into certain subjects. All in all, "mere" ESP was better than what the dream had suggested.

Still -- where had the information come from, and why? Had this "second puberty" enhanced his ESP -- as well as his ability to hallucinate?

"I'll leave you the card of a specialist you can see if thse dreams persist. I really don't know what to tell you -- except of course the good news, that we should be able to let you out of here any day now."
