Chapter 3 by ShootingQuazarDragon ShootingQuazarDragon

What's next?

An unexpected twist

Kari, Tai, and Ken were wandering through the Digital World, determined to find Davis and Veemon and explain the situation to them. They had tried to keep their friends from betrayal, but it had all gone horribly wrong. T.K and Matt had overruled them, leaving the team and setting off on their own. Now, the three remaining friends were left to wander in despair, hoping against hope that they could find their friends and set things right once more.

They traveled for what felt like days, navigating the twisting tunnels and dense forests of the Digital World. The air was heavy with an eerie stillness, as if the very atmosphere was holding its breath, waiting for the next disaster to strike.

then suddenly the three felt themselves pulled into different directions with Ken and Wormon towards the East, Kari and Gatomon towards the West and Tai and Agumon towards the north. As they stumbled apart, their feet seemed to move of their own accord, as if some unseen **** was pulling them in different directions. Ken's eyes widened in panic as he felt himself being drawn towards the East, Wormmon's instincts immediately kicking in as the Digimon wrapped a protective arm around his partner's waist. The air around them began to distort, the shadows twisting into tendrils that seemed to wrap around their ankles, pulling them further and further away from their friends.

Kari's eyes darted frantically between Tai and Ken, her voice barely above a whisper as she cried out in desperation. "No, wait! Come back!"

As Kari's **** cry echoed through the air, she felt herself being pulled towards the West with a **** that was both relentless and mesmerizing. The trees and rocks around her became a blur as she stumbled forward, Gatomon by her side, the Digimon's eyes fixed intently on her partner's face. The air seemed to thicken around them, the shadows coalescing into dark, tendril-like fingers that wrapped around Kari's ankles, pulling her deeper into the unknown.

The shrine that materialized before her was a twisted, nightmarish parody of the one she had seen in her visions.

As she stepped into the twisted shrine, the air seemed to congeal around her, like a dark, viscous liquid that clung to her skin. The darkness was palpable, a living entity that pulsed with an otherworldly energy. Kari's eyes adjusted slowly to the dim light, and she saw the pedestal before her, upon which rested two Crests of Light. But it was a grotesque parody of the symbols she had once known, for these Crests radiated an aura of darkness, their gentle glow subverted by an evil, malevolent ****.

The Crests seemed to be... breathing, their surfaces rippling like the surface of a stagnant pool.

As she gazed upon the corrupted Crests, Kari's mind reeled in horror, her thoughts tangling in a blur of confusion and fear. The air around her seemed to thicken, the darkness deepening into a palpable, almost sentient presence that watched her every move. The Crests pulsed with an otherworldly energy, their dark, breathing surfaces appearing to draw the light out of the air, leaving only an oppressive, crushing shadow.

Kari's voice was barely audible, a whispered breath that seemed to hang in the stagnant air like a mist. "How...is this possible?"

"we can answer that" 2 menacing voices said as when Kari and Gatomon turned around they saw a Varodurumon and a Magnadramon but they radiated both Light and Darkness. The voices were like a symphony of contradictions, a harmonious blend of light and darkness that sent shivers down Kari's spine. As she turned to face the speakers, the dim light of the twisted shrine danced across the features of the two Digimon, casting an eerie glow on their armored bodies. Varodurumon and Magnadramon stood before her, their eyes gleaming with an unsettling intensity that seemed to pierce through the shadows.

Their bodies radiated a conflicting aura, as if the very essence of light and darkness had been woven into their being.

"you see we were devoted to the light, but then were betrayed by the Sovereigns, after which we along with our 6 friends joined the Darkness, and I can feel you two went through the same as we did" Varodurumon said with a knowing look. Varodurumon's words hung in the air, a weighty confession that seemed to resound through the twisted shrine. The Digimon's gaze bore into Kari's soul, a piercing intensity that left her feeling exposed, ****. Yet, despite the unsettling nature of their encounter, Kari found herself nodding in response, a small gesture that acknowledged the painful truth of the Digimon's words.

A heavy, oppressive silence settled over the group as Magnadramon continued, the light and darkness swirling around him in a chaotic dance of energy. Gatomon pressed closer to her partner, an instinctive act of protection that seemed primitive in the face of the Digimon's fierce aura.

"We can make your hope come true since I can feel that the friend you are searching for has fused with our friend, the only thing you need to do is accept our power and join the side of Darkness" Magnadramon said with a knowing look. As Magnadramon's words hung in the air, the shadows around Kari seemed to deepen, as if the very darkness itself was responding to the Digimon's offer. The air vibrated with an almost palpable energy, heavy with the weight of temptation. Kari's eyes locked onto Magnadramon's, her gaze drawn into the swirling vortex of light and darkness that danced within his eyes. The Digimon's words had awakened a spark within her, a spark that seemed to grow in intensity as she considered the possibility of being reunited with Davis.

Gatomon looked at her saying "we should do it since this may be our only chance to find Davis and Veemon forever, but it's your choice Kari" with a determination in her eyes, and with that Kari had made up her choice. As Kari's gaze held Gatomon's, a fleeting moment of indecision flickered across her face, a whispered promise of doubt and uncertainty. But it was swiftly extinguished, consumed by a fierce determination that seemed to burn within her very soul. Her eyes hardened, her jaw set in a resolute line, and with a deliberate slowness, she turned to face Varodurumon and Magnadramon. The air around her seemed to thicken, as if the shadows themselves were coalescing into a palpable presence, a living embodiment of the darkness that waited to claim her.

Varodurumon then said "to get our powers you have to touch the Crest's the left one is mine and the right one is Magnadramon's" Kari nodded as she went to the left one as Gatomon went to the right one and when both touched them, they felt both the Power of light and Darkness flow through their bodies.

As soon as Kari's skin made contact with the left Crest, a surge of energy coursed through her body, like a river of liquid silver and darkness. The sensation was both exhilarating and terrifying, as if her very cells were being rewritten to accommodate the conflicting forces of light and darkness. She felt her vision blur, and her senses expand, as if she could perceive the world around her in a way that was previously impossible. The air seemed to vibrate with an otherworldly power, and she could feel the weight of Varodurumon's gaze upon her, as if the Digimon was monitoring her transformation.

As Kari's body began to transform into a Varodurumon, a shimmering aura erupted around her, a kaleidoscope of colors that danced across her skin like a restless flame. The air seemed to ripple with anticipation, as if the very fabric of reality was being reshaped to accommodate her new form. Her limbs stretched and contorted, twisting into impossible shapes as her body elongated, her skin taking on a radiant, incandescent sheen. Feathers burst forth from her skin, a riotous cascade of silver and gold that seemed to unfurl like a blooming flower.

As Kari's body continued to twist and contort, her face elongated, her features blurring as her skin took on a soft, downy texture. Her eyes, once bright and expressive, began to change, shifting from a deep brown to a piercing yellow, the irises fracturing into a kaleidoscope of colors that danced like flames. A beak burst forth from her mouth, hard and sharp, as her nose morphed into a delicate, almost translucent pair of nostrils.

As the final wisps of her transformation dissipated, Kari, now in the form of Varodurumon, stood tall, her majestic wings unfolding from her back like a celestial fan. The feathers, a dazzling array of silver and gold, seemed to shimmer and dance in the dim light of the twisted shrine, casting a hypnotic glow across the walls. Her eyes, now bright yellow with irises that shone like polished gemstones, gleamed with an otherworldly intelligence, as if the very essence of the Digimon had awakened within her.

Gatomon watched as Kari underwent her transformation, her eyes wide with a mixture of awe and fear. She had never seen anything like it before, and the sheer power of it all left her feeling both humbled and awestruck.

"Gatomon, it's your turn now," Varodurumon said, her voice filled with a quiet intensity. "You must embrace the power of the light and darkness, just as Kari has done."

Gatomon hesitated for a moment, her eyes flicking between Varodurumon and Magnadramon.

As Gatomon's body began to transform into a Magnadramon, a low, rumbling hum filled the air, like the distant growl of thunder on a summer's day. The sound seemed to emanate from the very core of her being, a primal energy that was both exhilarating and terrifying. Her eyes, once bright and curious, began to shift, the irises expanding as her pupils contracted, like two glittering obsidian orbs sucking in the light around her. The air around her seemed to ripple and distort, as if reality itself was bending to accommodate the transformation.

Gatomon's body began to change, her once small and sleek form growing larger and more imposing. Her fur receded, replaced by shimmering, iridescent scales that seemed to ripple and dance in the dim light of the twisted shrine. Her limbs elongated, becoming thick and powerful, each one ending in wickedly sharp claws that gleamed with a sinister light. Her tail, once short and fluffy, grew long and sinuous, a deadly weapon that seemed to writhe and twist with a life of its own.

As Gatomon's head changed, her ears receded, replaced by two sharp, curved horns that jutted out from her forehead. Her whiskers lengthened, becoming delicate tendrils that snaked around her face, and her nose elongated into a sharp, pointed snout.

Gatomon's body continued to grow, her once small and agile form becoming massive and imposing. Her limbs became thick and powerful, each one ending in wickedly sharp claws that gleamed with a sinister light.
