An unexpected settlement...

As Big boy and Buyer travel north they are once again **** to cross the Charles River. With Cutler Bend too dangerous and too near to the GNN plaza they instead decide to take the bridge. There is always a risk associated with sticking to the main roads in the Commonwealth as a mutant. It greatly increases the risk of running into people and **** points like bridges are often well fortified and controlled by either a local power or raiders who extort caravans.

The Roxbury bridge though is probably abandoned. There's not a lot of activity this far south of Boston and last Evelyn or Nora heard there wasn't a major settlement in the area. Some fisherman used to live at Egert Marina and the minute men were active there years ago but Nora said the Homesteaders at Summerville Place hadn't heard from them in over a year.

When they actually reached the bridge they were shocked. Two people armed a check point halfway down the Bridge. They wore faded blue coats, grey metal chest plates, and big black wellington boots that came up to just below their knees. On their heads where a black toque and a Calvary man's hat, the brim pinned to one side. In their hands where Lazer muskets, the red light pulsing inside the resonance chamber. Behind them was a rusted scrap wall made of correlated steel and a big chain link gate, and machine gun turret that slowly tucked back and forth.

Looking down across the river they could see pens with what looked like Mirelurks in them. The two mutants watched as three humans entered the pen. Two had long wooden poles that ended in wide crescents. They used these to hold back the Mirrlurk as a third human harvested it's eggs. They then backed up and left. It seems like the people of Egrets Marina had not abandoned the site after all. It was bustling with activity.

Big boy isn't sure what to do. This the only crossing he knows of besides Cutler bend. It could take him days to find another one. If he tries to cross the bridge it almost certainly means a fire fight. Humans don't wait to hear mutants out. He and Biter could definitely clear the bridge but could they get away before reinforcements arrived from the settlement. They could try to ford the river but he has no idea how deep it is and all sorts of creatures live in those waters. While his heart and loins throb at the idea of attacking the bridge head on, his head is desperately trying to think of other options.
