An Unfortunate Truth

At the time, I wasn't aware of what happens when a devil is inseminated by a human. If I had known, I would have definitely done the opposite.

Beatrix accepted my payload with a long, drawn out moan. Her body arching upward in a painful shape. I couldn't help but fear that I had harmed Beatrix in some way, but after a moment of her in that position, she collapsed back into the mattress. At first I thought she had passed out, but then her eyes fluttered open. She stared up at the ceiling for what seemed like forever before turning her teary eyes to me.

"Sorry." I said, unsure how react to a devil who was on the verge of tears.

Beatrix crashes into my chest and nearly knocking me to the floor. She wraps her arms around my body."Victor!" She cries. "I can't feel it!"

I genuinely felt bad for whatever I did and had to build up the courage to ask what she was crying about in the least presumptuous way I could--which was damn fucking hard!

Beatrix sniffled. "Devils are incapable of procreation with humans. A devil's pregnancy averages around two minutes. During that time an egg forms within the mother's womb, combined with the parent's life essences. Similarly to human females, a female devil's stomach expands in size to allow space for the egg in the short time it is in the womb." She admitted. "As you can see--" Beatrix swallows, rubbing her belly, unwilling or rather, unable to finish the explanation. She didn't need to, however, I already understood what had occurred. It was just like before, another lost child that would never see the world. It didn't matter if it was with a devil, it was still my child.

We remained in that pose for a few minutes before Beatrix unwrapped herself and sat on the edge of the bed. "It's time I tell you." She shattered the silence that had fallen between the two of us.
