An Odd Sound When She Moves

The conversation seemed to run forever and ever. Mika was sweet, but her approach to conversations was to try to **** every topic under the sun in. Mandy smiled along and tried to keep up, but was hopelessly out of her depth. At one point Mika hugged her, she wasn't totally sure why.

Devoid of the ability to actually keep up with the conversation that was happening, Mandy's mind was free to wander. Naturally it went to the girl she was talking to. She seemed normal enough. A bit girly. Pink sheets, pink covers, pink seemingly everything. She was short, but very cute. No doubt Mika had to fend off the guys with a stick.

But, something pierced through her benign observations. That is that every time Mika seemed to move or jump she could have sworn she heard a noise. She wasn't quite able to put the cause of it down. It was clearly coming from Mika, of course. When Mika jumped up to hug her, the proximity made the sound slightly louder and more noticeable. But, just what the cause of it was impossible to tell.

A few hours later, after she settledin, Mandy was still wondering about the cause of the sound. Mika had left for a party (of course she was already invited to a party) leaving Mandy alone to consider it. Of course, the events of the day were on the forefront of her mind. The campus tour, buying books for her classes, wondering if she'd be able to find any friends. But, the question of what was the sound Mika was making still came up here and there...
