An Educational Experience (Poem)

It was a story somewhat picaresque,

As one student sat down in his seat,

In a scene some might find grotesque,

While other students sat, sweating from the heat,

For one, the weather had not got him beat.

For as he sat there at his desk,

He was bare, from his head to his feet.

As he sat there looking quite statuesque,

In a situation rather kafkaesque.

Now you may question if this dude

Knew that he was at school.

And if he did, was he aware that he was nude?

And that he was breaking an unwritten rule?

Now, you may take him for a fool,

For if you had done what he'd done you'd

Surely just be offering up more bullying fuel.

And if you consider how he could be so lewd,

You might even guess he liked being viewed.

He was like that as he rode the bus,

Among the other young women and men.

His nudity made him more vulgar than those who cuss,

But along the way he lost his pen,

And would have to borrow from a friend.

But others were too busy making a fuss

About his state of stress, but then

He found it on the floor again

And found a quarter as a plus.

Naturally, some were quite shook.

Everything from his head to his toes,

All could see if they only dared to look.

But life went on, despite one student’s lack of clothes,

And to their surprise, it was him the teacher chose

To stand and read from the textbook.

And as he did something else rose.

A glance, the girl next to him took

And so, this perverted student

Was sent to the principal’s office.

One who was very prudent,

Who, to deal with this novice,

And so they called in a lawyer

Who said there is no such thing as indecency.

She said: “Let him be naked or you’re

Fired. If he wants to show off, let people see!

A school is not a place for rules, it is a place to teach Tom Sawyer!”

The principal conceded and sent him back to class under orders.

So to his science class he went.

And the teacher had to check her specs!

What must this have meant?

That this student was still naked and still sexed?

Was the prudish principal not vexed?

How, back to class, he was sent,

The professor was quite perplexed.

But as long as he wore goggles, she did consent,

To let him participate in the experiment.

Now math was usually a total grunt

Since the students were so bored.

Later some would gossip, others lied,

And would continue to do so, long after the come had dried.
