"Whoa, Ashley, calm down," you say. "There's no need to yell at Alicia."

"You're taking her side?" Ashley spits. "What the fuck, Andrew!"

"Alicia has no reason to steal your textbook," you say. "Someone else must have taken yours. Or maybe it was stolen, I don't know. Whatever. This isn't the place to talk about this anyway."

Ashley seems genuinely shocked for some reason that you would take Alicia's side over hers in this argument, so much so that she's at a loss for words. "Whatever," she says. "Fuck this. And fuck you guys, too, this is complete bullshit." She storms out of the room soon after and disappears into the masses of the party.

"Thanks for taking my side, Andrew," Alicia says. Her hand is on your arm, rubbing it up and down, and she's looking you in the eye. "I really appreciate it." She bites her lip. "Can I make it up to you somehow?"
