Alex the akward little shit

Jessicas friends laughed at alexes blunder, then forgot about lilly, going up to him and patting him on the back. He stuck his hands in his pockets and looked down. "Hey! Its alright, everyones a little shy, right?" One of the girls said. They encouraged him, somthing lilly didn't understand. Why were they nice to alex but mean to her?

Lilly, realizing the girls had let go of her tail, ran over to alex and hid behind him. She clutched the back of his shirt and used him like a protective barrier. "Lilly? Whats wrong? I– oh." He saw jessica, then turned around and faced lilly, kneeling to be eye level woth her. "Lilly, its ok.. As long as I'm here, nothin can happen. Your safe, ok?" he smiled at her.

Lilly nodded, liking how alex was rubbing her head. Normaly she would object to being treated like a little kid, but she honestly felt like one at the moment.

"Jessica, i went to your house, I wanted to... Apoligize!" Alex bowed his head. "I'm sorry, I overreacted! I shouldn't have yelled at you, so... Sorry..." Alex stood up straight, red faced. I, I think I'll be leaving now..." Alex grabbed lillys hand and dragged her away akwardly.

"Did you, like the town? Sorry i left you for to long, i sidnt expect to be gone that much.." Alex said, partialy to himself. Lilly shook her head, jer hat back on and her tail hidden once again. Theu were walking back home now.

"Hey Alex, w–" some random person yelled to alex. Lilly hugged his arm tightly. "Woa!! Dude!! Whats with her?? You broke up with jessica last month! She'd kill you if she thought you were over her that fast!" The random guy said, trying to get a better look at lilly.

"Ha. Haha! I've, got somewhere to be, so, I'll be leaving now!" Alex sprinted away, not wanting to explain why he had lilly by his side. Lilly noticed alex seemed to have trouble talking to other humans. She wondered why.
