Alex was a complete nerd in his schooling days. Asthma, thick glasses, and being a complete klutz, didn't make his life any easier. He could get any girls, was a total social failure, and resorted to playing Dungeons & Dragons or Everquest Online in his dilapidated basement, which he called his room.

The reason why he has a basement for a room because of his ever-so-dominant father. His father was veteran in the military and his father before him. He received many rewards for his actions in the military. Alex had no interest in his father or his antics.

In his senior year, Alex was the same as he was in 7th grade, which is when he got his first MMORPG for Christmas. He knew everything; every ins and outs, every strategy, everything many people didn't know were existent in a game. His father resented it everyday until the day that Alex graduated. Alex's future was the topic on everybody's mind. Alex wanted to get into a game design college and make video games for a living. Alex's father then made a bet. He made this bet against Alex's choice because he knew he would succeed. And he did. Alex and father dueled, not with weapons, but with arguments. Each would tell all the benefits of his choice. Alex told everything to know about the gaming college. His father continued on and on about the military. The last fact that would seal the bet would be about the amount of money he will be making after joining and finishing the military.

Defeated with no other choice, Alex obeys and joins the military.
