Alessandra recalibrates

"Shit," said Lindsay.

"OK. OK." said Ali. "This sounds bad..."

"Sounds bad?" said Lindsay. "Ali, Lily is in jail. She's a sitting duck!"

"No," said Ali. "She's being protected by the LAPD. They aren't going to let a criminal gang break an alleged murderer out of custody. All we have to do is keep watch on the station doors until they transfer her to a proper prison. At that point, she'll be safe, so they'll probably try to get her en route."

"I have different concerns," said Doutzen. "Firstly, the LAPD have already warned me that if I interfere with their investigation, I'll be locked up too. Secondly, what if the kidnappers decide that Lily is too secure to kidnap, and change targets?"

"Don't worry about that," Ali said, dismissing Doutzen. "Victoria's calculations already take that into account. Remember that bringing Natalie in for protection made the probability that she'd get kidnapped drop right down?"

Doutzen was content, but Lindsay wasn't. "I'm not comfortable using Lily as bait. She's our friend. We should be trying to protect her. Fuck, we should be breaking her out of prison so she can help with the investigation."

"Lily doesn't need protecting," said Ali. "She's the toughest of us all. If she does get kidnapped, then she can fight for herself. And breaking her out of prison would be a terrible idea - it would make all of us guilty of a real crime, it would make Lily more ****, and Victoria would fire us. This is my mission, Lindsay, and we're doing what I say."
