Aikin's Office

Dr. Aikin had a very neat and tidy office in the school's admin building. Bookshelves on either side were stuffed full of thick academic tomes. Healthy houseplants were on the window sill on one side of the room. A desk was laid out with papers, but there was a sense of organized chaos to it, like you can find anything you needed to if you just knew the system.

Dr. Aikin herself smiled and greeted Abby as she walked in.

"Good afternoon, Abby! Thank you for coming. Please, have a seat, it won't take long."

Abby did as she was told and gladly accepted Dr. Aikin's hospitality. "So... what's this about? I'm not in trouble, am I?"

Dr. Aikin smiles and shakes her head. "No, nothing like that. Actually, you've been doing very well in class so far. I get the sense that you're pretty interested in Power Theory as a subject. I have an internship opportunity opening up soon that I was going to announce next week, but since you seem so interested and motivated I wanted to give you the first shot at it. If you want to be my research assistant, I can reserve you a spot. It doesn't pay much, but if you pinch your pennies, you should be able to get by. And if you do well enough, I can bump you up to research partner after not too long."

"Oh, wow," Abby says. "Thank you. I am interested. Can I get back to you soon?"

"Of course! I do hope you'll accept, Abby. I think you have a lot of potential and could really help people."
