Agree to move to a smaller room

Day 13

Dear diary,

So I moved rooms.

Jean has been extremely forgiving, and I don't know what I'd do right now without her. But she has to make money, some of it at least. She admitted to me today that since I hadn't been paying up front, she'd had to keep the suite listed as available, and tomorrow someone else was coming to stay in it for a few days. She apologized a lot, but I told her I understood, and it was no trouble. She asked if I'd be willing to stay in a smaller room, off the courtyard with a door in the back, just until I was able to pay my tab. I told her no problem, because I did feel sorry for her and I felt guilty. I could see she was eating very plain food (she'd started to eat with me) just ratatouille, chicken, and some bread every day. While I'd ordered some fancy seafood dish. She offered me some today, and it was delicious. I don't know how I will repay her.
