Trying to keep this as much like the original wish as they could, as they’d talked about, Tom rubbed the coin and wished that Sarah was black. It was simple, just like the age wish that had started it all. The only difference was this time, she was right in front of him, not somewhere he couldn’t see. It wasn’t like she changed in front of his eyes. In one instant, she was the woman he knew.

The next, she wasn’t. Oh, Sarah still looked a lot like herself. Many of her features were still there. But there was so much else that had changed. As was expected, her skin tone was drastically different, going from a pale white to a very dark brown. With it, her hair became black, as well as became much curlier. Other than that, the changes were very small. It was hard, if not impossible, for either of them to really pick out all of these small changes, they were only noticeable in their totality.

Standing up from where she’d been sitting, Sarah looked herself over, turning around so she could look around at herself. “Wow,” she said, her voice sounding exactly as before, unchanged, “This is crazy!” Then, she quickly moved over to an area in the living room where they had their photos hung up and framed. Sure enough, it was the New Sarah in all of them, young and black. Moving over to her purse, she pulled out her wallet and checked her driver’s license. Different photo, but same everything else, including name.

Looking at all of the available evidence, Tom could see that it had worked. Looking at his smiling, transformed wife, he chuckled. “It’s funny, I thought you would have changed more than that. You’re pretty much entirely the same.”

Coming closer to him, Sarah gave him a quick kiss on the lips then rolled her eyes at him. “Of course that’s the case, Tom. You only wished to change my race. You’re still working off the same template: me. If you wanted to change me more, you should have wished for that.” There was something to her voice as she said that, that almost sounded like she was daring him.

Grinning at her, Tom asked, “Oh, do you want me to change you more then?”

“It did cross my mind,” Sarah replied, looking cute. “I mean, you did do this to me for yourself, didn’t you. You’ve got complete control over who I am. I think you’ve restrained yourself long enough to do with that whatever you’d like.” Then she paused, and added, “Make sure to change me back when you’re done, though.” With full permission granted, Tom thought about what he would do to his wife, what fantasy to fulfill.
