Ace of Diamonds (different response)

Tony discarded the Ace of Diamonds, & drew a 4 of Clubs.

Damn! No help there, Tony grumbled. As everyone revealed their hand, Tony was disappointed, but not surprised, to discover he had the low hand this round. Tony bent down, & removed his sports sandals. Twirling them about his head, he then tossed them into the corner.

"Why both?", Jessica asked.

"Shoes count as just 1 article of clothing," Denise responded. "Also, you can't count belts, purses, jewelry or anything like that."

Jessica made a silent "O" with her mouth as Denise dealt out the next hand. Tony could see Jessica reassessing how the game was going to go. Whatever she concluded had made her a little bit more nervous, as she studied her new hand intensely.
