Accidentally bring it up

After a few seconds of comfortable silence, Rachel puts her fork down.

"Scott, which one is he?" She asks, frowning in an attempt to remember. "I've met him haven't I?"

"Yeah briefly." You reply after taking a long sip of juice. "Tall guy, dark hair. A top bloke. He came over a couple of weeks ago to watch the game. You left for work not long after he got here."

"Ah, yes. Now I remember him. He seemed nice." Rachel states.

"So I was thinking of taking you out to dinner that evening, before meeting up with the others."

"Are you asking me out on a date John?" Rachel asks mischievously. "Are you sure you want me around cramping your style while you're with your mates?"

"It would be my pleasure to have you on my arm and introduce you to them as my girlfriend". You chastise yourself for letting that word inadvertently roll off your tongue.

Rachel puts down her cutlery, her food forgotten and her eyes wide with surprise. "Girlfriend? John, I...."

"Rachel". You interupt her softly, reaching out for her right hand and squeezing it gently. "I know we haven't talked about the status of this 'relationship', but I want you to know that I'm absolutely crazy about you. We have only known each other a few weeks, but I couldn't bear not being with you." Your voice may have sounded calm, but your heart is pounding. You hope you haven't ruined everything by scaring her off.

"Do you really mean that John?" Rachel asks. Her body is visibly trembling, but her eyes are looking deep into yours.

"I do, Rachel". You rely emphatically, leaving no room for doubt.

After a few moments Rachel looks away and wipes a tear out of the corner of her eye. She gazes back at you and you see love and adoration for you twinkling in your eyes. She then leans across the small kitchen table and plants her soft lips against yours. You return the kiss eagerly. The kiss
is soft and tender, and for you it feels like time has stood still.

Once the kiss ends Rachel says softly. "John, I feel the same way about you."

"I kinda guessed that when you kissed me!" You say, a cocky grin forming at the corners of your mouth.

"I'd think I would prefer it if you introduced me to your friends as your 'girlfriend', rather than your 'slut'!" Rachel declares with a cheeky grin.

"Consider it done.....girlfriend". You say with a silly grin.

Rachel smiles and kisses you again. Her probing tongue invades you mouth as soon as your lips lock with hers.

"I was thinking". Rachel begins nervously, chewing the bottom of her lip once the kiss ends. "My sister is eighteen in a couple of weeks, and she is having a big party held for it back home. I'm going for the weekend, would you like to come with me?"
