Abducted!

Chapter 4 by Phantompen

Unbeknownst to Abigail or any of her entourage, the broken wheel was far from an accident. A hidden party had been following the caravan for some time and singled out the princess's cart thanks in no small part to its frequent stops and sounds of entitled shouting from within. When Abigail stuck her head out and confirmed her identity, it was all the watchers needed to strike.

A bolt of lightning shot across the road and into the nearest guard, arcing from him and into his comrade. Both men collapsed to the ground, shocked into unconsciousness. The carriage driver saw the two armed men fall and promptly dropped his tools and ran away. He barely got paid enough to put up with the princess's entitled whining, he certainly didn't get enough to deal with whatever was happening now!

The attack sent Abigail ducking back inside her carriage. Drawing the curtains closed and cursing the flimsy metal lock that stood between her and the attackers, she tried to summon up enough courage to try and scare them away.

"You fools have no idea what you're doing! You're attacking royalty! Lay a hand on me and King Elard Goldblood!" Abigail shouted. Surely these fiends weren't so stupid as to risk the anger of a king?

The door gave in with a single kick, the metal lock skittering across the carriage floor. An armorer figure marched inside, followed shortly by another armored figure and a woman in robes.

"You assume a great deal." the robed woman said. Lowering her hood, she revealed a pretty elven face framed by silky black hair. "Princess Abigail, it's truly a pleasure to see you."

"I-I don't know what you knaves think you're doing, but it won't succeed!" Abigail threatened. She was about to continue her tirade, but was silenced when the woman slapped a hand over her mouth.

"Do shut up, 'Highness.'" the woman ordered. "I heard enough of your whining while we were following you."

With her free hand, the robed elf snapped her fingers. The floor of the carriage began to glow and Abigail was blinded by a brilliant flash of light. The princess had been teleported before, and the odd falling feeling was just as disorienting now as it had been then. The princess and her captors arrived at their destination, Abigail hitting the ground in an undignified heap.
