A whole new you

"I've read that humans only use about ten percent of their brains." You say cutting to the chase. "I want to double my IQ and quit wasting the other ninety percent."

"Risky work there, lad. I never pushed past thirty percent myself. Can't guarantee what will happen."

"I still want to try." You respond. "I'd like to be free to worry about other things in school."

"Like lovely lasses?"

"And conniving relatives. They're going to try to bleed me dry and won't stop until they succeed, and I'm not going to simply roll over and let that happen."

"Want to be a bit... ethically numb then?"

"More like... ethically flexible, if you can do that." You reply.

"One high school education, and one case of moral ambiguity. What else lad?"

"Computers are the future and I want to be leading the pack."

"All manner of programming languages and electrical engineering, at your fingertips. And a dash of the higher end sciences, just because."

You blush hotly as you mumble your next choice under your breath. "Sex."

Benny laughs. "That was the first thing I added boy. It's how I kept June so happy all those years. Anything else?"

You gnaw your lip thoughtfully. "If push comes to shove I want to be the last man standing."

"Unarmed combat, various schools." Benny said, as the screen updated itself. "I think you might want to stop there. We wouldn?t want to overload you."

"One last thing." You promise. "I want to be fluent in the five most common international languages."

Benny makes the appropriate adjustments. "No more then. We're pushing it as it stands."

"The results will be worth it." You reply coolly, taking a seat in the chair for the second time that day. You nod to Benny as the chair cycles up. This time it is no quiet buzzing. This time is a buzzsaw whine that tears deeply into your skull causing you to scream once before blissfully embracing oblivion.
