A synthetic companion, 1000 years in the future, Ruin City

You feel yourself awaken, though unlike your usual human waking process this one feels automatic, like someone simply flipped a switch and now you're awake. Looking around you, your eyes aren't gazing in their standard way, the difference is inexplicable but your eyes feel almost more like cameras.

"Where am I?" you ask, your voice sounding unnatural.

A giant machine with an array of red glowing dots, and numerous probing arms descends from the ceiling and looks at you closely, "Ah. So you're finally awake."

"What are you?" you gasp as you see the metallic sheens around your joints. "What am I?"

"A synthetic companion droid," the machine says in its metallic voice. "A synth for short."

"What?" you shake your head in confusion.

"Your consciousness is inside a machine body. Now...
