Chapter 2 by CpnMidnight CpnMidnight

What to do on a morning in the Avengers mansion?

A swim would be just the thing.

The idea of a swim before breakfast start to float to the top of her head. The Avengers swimming pool was bigger than her old college dormitory. It would be a shame to let it go to waste.

She threw off the bedsheets, bounced out of bed and skipped into the shower. After a brisk, thorough rinsing, she grabbed a towel, made a half-hearted effort to wrap it around her torso, and started to hunt for a swimsuit.

Janet had a wide range of swimsuits, from "I'm going to do fifty laps today if it kills me" functional, to "I'm going to make every guy on the beach dream about me for a month" flimsy. Peering at one, then the other, she rapidly came to the conclusion that none of them really suited her mood.

She lifted her head. "Jarvis? Is anyone using the pool right now?"

The artificial intelligence built into Avengers mansion responded without a moment's hesitation. "The swimming pool is unoccupied, miss. The water is currently at a temperature of twenty-five degrees Celsius. Would you like me to adjust it?"

"I'm sure it's perfect," Janet said, and gleefully dropped her towel, shrank down to Wasp-size, and flew off through the halls at top speed.

She reached the pool without anyone seeing her; a safe bet, given how huge the mansion was and how few people were actually in it. Once she was out over the vast watery expanse, she cut her speed, shifted back to Janet-size, and let her momentum carry her forward into a graceful dive.

Splash!

She plunged down into the water like a torpedo, and leveled off as soon as she was several feet under. She swept her arms back, propelling herself with rapid kicks of her feet. It wasn't as much fun as flying, but the feel of the water flowing over her naked skin was very nice.

She kicked quickly, determined to reach the far side of the pool without coming up for air. When she was about halfway, it seemed clear that she should have taken a deeper breath before her dive, but that was fine. She was a superhero, after all. She just needed to swim a few more yards ... and a few more after that ... almost there ...

She surged upward, sucking in a lungful of air as soon as her head cleared water. The side of the pool was just within arm's reach, and she grabbed it, hanging on while she tried to catch her breath.

And that's when she noticed someone standing at the side of the pool, right in front of her.

Who is it?
