Chapter 34 by jealco

What does Julie leave as payment?

A shoe

If the park was busy later, getting whatever she left here back would prove to be quite the challenge, if not impossible. That thought alone led her to decide to play it safe. Her newfound exhibitionistic tendencies aside, she would prefer to have at least some coverage when she left the park, and leaving something important here now could leave her in a bind.

She popped her left flat off, then realized the only way to get up to the photo was to stand on a urinal. Placing her right foot on one, she carefully balanced, not wanting to place her bare left foot on the urinal. Grasping the ledge with one hand, she carefully set the flat on the ledge, then grabbed the envelope. Dropping back to the floor, she walked over to the trash can, tearing the envelope and it's contents into shreds without opening it. If she had, she probably would have ended up staring at the picture, revisiting yesterday.

Her gait felt slightly unbalanced, the contrast between her right foot, warm in it's flat, and her bare left foot upon the cold concrete floor not lost upon her. She'd paid the first toll, a small one, but still important in that she was going through with this. Dropping the now finely-shredded envelope into the trash can, she stepped outside again, and looked down at the map.

Where does she go next?
