A serious time out.

“Day, honey?” Piya says raising a quizzical eye, “it’s night time. How long do you think you’ve been asleep?”

I’m not altogether sure what Piya means by that. I checked my alarm clock when I got up and it said 7 o’clock. I’d assumed that was AM not PM. It gets dark very late in Australia in summer.

“I thought I’d slept overnight. I must have only slept for a couple of hours after Aor left then,” I tell Piya. I feel amazingly refreshed for the small amount of sleep I had.

Yui looking concerned too says, “Sweetie that was yesterday. You’ve been asleep for a day and a half.”

“When we didn’t hear from you for all that time we got worried and came over,” Piya explains further.

I am completely blown away, no wonder I feel so damn revived.

“Wow, I had no idea. I’m really sorry if I made you worry,” I tell the pair of them, touched by their concern for me, “the first thing I’m doing is cutting you both keys!”

The girls seem happy with that.

After tea I help Piya with the dishes while Yui settles herself down in front of the TV, the chef free from having to do the washing up also. Piya and I talk as we work. She tells me my phone had gone flat and they couldn’t reach me on it. They put it onto charge for me and it will probably have a million missed calls from her and Yui when I check it. She also lets me know that Yui let Jessica and Holly know about the cut to my forehead and that they strictly forbid me from working my usual door shifts this weekend.

“And to answer your question from before, the rest of our day is the pair of us staying the night here to keep an eye on you. We’re going to make sure no one comes over and gets up to any funny business until you’ve had at least a full day to recover,” Piya informs me as we finish the last of the dishes.

From the living room, I hear Yui calling out, “Hey wait! Not even us?”

Piya turns and throws the tea towel she’s holding at the back of Yui head. Unaware, it drops short. “Yes, that includes us! I’ve already put him into the hospital once, I’m not sending him back again so soon.”

I grab a bottle of sweet white wine from my fridge and pour out three glasses. I take one to Yui and drop mine off on the coffee table also before telling them I’m just going to check my phone before we settle down.

In my room, my phone is slowly making its way back to full charge. Sure enough, I have dozens of missed calls from Piya, Yui, Jessica and others. Piya and Yui had been trying to get me all day. I cancel out the missed calls and take a look at a bunch of text messages. The majority are from my two girlfriends getting more and more worried about me but several are from my other friends also.

I have a couple of messages from Lawan on my phone also.
