Chapter 50 by skedlee skedlee

How's work without Ted?

A prelude to this evening

As you enter your cubicle you're greeted by a familiar face, and one that you will soon be much better acquainted with.

"Hey John," Mary greets you, warmth in her eyes and she gives you the once-over. "What was that about?" she asks, as she stands up and looks at the departing Marissa. You give her a once-over yourself, as she dressed up in a cream-white blouse that is partially opaque, allowing a careful eye to see a tan-colored push-up bra underneath. On her lower half she wears a high-waisted navy blue skirt, and while it goes up all the way to her belly button, it stops several inches short of her knees, giving you a glimpse of her delicious thighs.

Feeling real good about yourself, you answer, "That? Oh, just giving the authorities a little testimony."

"The authorities?" Mary asks, confusion evident in her expression. "What the hell happened?"

"I might have discovered that Ted was stealing money from our former employee Karen," you bragged, as you sat down in your chair and booted up your work computer.

"No way! Really?"

"Indeed," you state proudly. "To be honest, it wasn't actually that impressive. All that really happened was that I talked to Karen to ask her a question and she mentioned that she was fired. From there, I mentioned it to Marissa, and she took action. Apparently, Ted has defrauded the company and employees for several years."

"Wow. Impressive detective work," Mary praises, though she can't help but smirk in the process. She pauses for a moment in thought, before finally saying, "I almost can't believe that we'll never have to deal with Ted again. He's been this omnipresent **** of negativity in my life ever since I started working for Simmons. And now, on a random Thursday in April, he's just gone."

"Yep!" you say with a smile on your face. "And by the way, if you're feeling generous to the man who got rid of him and want to thank him, well, I'm not going to turn you down."

Mary laughs in response, a beautiful laugh that echoes across the office in a pleasant and soothing sound. "Hmm..I would, but you did just mention that it wasn't all that impressive. So I'm not sure that I really need to thank you."

"Damn, you got me there. Oh well, it's for the best," you reply, waving it off. "You'll be thanking me plenty enough later tonight. God too."

"Down boy," Mary speaks through a chuckle. "You'll have ample opportunity to impress me tonight. Trust me, I'm definitely looking forward to it."

You smile back at her and buckle down to get to work. The rest of your day is wonderful, one of the best you've had since you were hired. It was very relaxed, especially after the staff meeting for your department that Marissa called at 10:00 a.m. where she announced that Ted was no longer with the company and they were currently seeking a replacement hire. There wasn't any outright cheering, but you could hear a few sighs of relief when Marissa broke the news. Shortly after the meeting Carrie texts you a thank you for your order of breakfast for her.

C: Thanks for the food babe. You want me to drop by your place after work for a pep-talk?

J: A pep-talk sounds nice. But I know that the moment I see you I'm going to feel the overwhelming urge to fuck you, and I'd like to be as revved up as possible for tonight with Mary.

C: Good call. The thought of you claiming your third married woman is just too damn arousing for me. I won't be able to resist jumping your bones.

J: Lol, you fucking horned up goddess. Will you ever be satisfied with the women we've taken?

C: Nope :)

You spend much of the day flirting with your cubicle-mate, talking to her more than you usually do. Over the course of the day, you realize that even though the two of you were close friends, a part of you held yourself back in her presence because she had a significant other.

Alas, your wonderful work day does end eventually. At 5:00 p.m. sharp Mary stands up and begins to pack her things to head home.

"Leaving so soon?" you chide jokingly. "If you want to advance anywhere in this company, you have to accept the fact that leaving anytime before 6:30 is begging to get yourself fired," you say, imitating one of Ted's most infamous speeches.

"Sorry, sir," Mary replies, referencing the short-lived period when Ted insisted that his underlings refer to him as 'Sir' at all times. Eventually, enough people complained to HR and he stopped, but the damage was done and people began to mockingly refer to him as 'sir' behind his back all the time.

"I have plans tonight," Mary continues. "I'm going to visit a close friend, and a part of me wants to knock his socks off and give him a night he'll never forget."

"Well, knowing you, you'll go above and beyond and the two of you will have a wonderful time tonight."

"I hope so," Mary says, as she moves close to you and leans against your desk. She does an effortless stretch, and you're even more aware of her body than usual. "Apparently, my friend has a lot of dinners with friends, including one just a week ago with his girlfriend and her best friend." You neglect to inform Mary about your threesome with Helen, Ted's wife, because in your opinion, there's a fine line between mega-stud and man-slut.

"Well," you state carefully. "I'm sure that your friend will most certainly enjoy dinner with you. After all, if he didn't think dinner with you would be enjoyable, he'd just have dinner with his girlfriend again, right?" You gather your thoughts for a moment, but before Mary can respond, you add, "In fact, I'm sure that your friend would have gone to dinner with you long before, but he thought that you wouldn't want to go to dinner with him."

Mary smiles at your response, and for a few long moments you think that she's going to lean in and kiss you. But, and probably for the better as you both don't want to start any rumors, she just brushes her hair behind her ear and stands up. She then leans back in, to your surprise, but only to whisper something into your ear.

"I'm going to rock your fucking world tonight."

She retreats and your eyes follow her pert ass. You can swear that she's putting a little bit extra into her step, and when she turns her head around to look at you, the gleam in her eyes confirms your suspicion.

"See you later John," Mary says with a smile, before departing your cubicle.

You sit in a dumbfound silence for a minute before you realize that you too can head on home. After all, Ted is nowhere to be seen. You begin your end of the work day routine and soon depart the office building where you work. You get through the security fence and approach your car when you're suddenly accosted and pushed up against the nearest car.

Shock paralyzes you for a moment, but once you see who's in front of you breathe a sigh of relief. It's Ted, your former boss and he's not looking his best. His light hair is disheveled, and there are visible bags under his eyes. His apparent tiredness doesn't diminish the fury in his demeanor.

"You think I wouldn't find out about what you did, John? I know you're the one that turned me in to Marissa and got me fired. We had a deal, you fucking piece of shit," Ted accused venomously. He desperately grips the your lapels in an attempt to pin you, but even though you're not the buffest guy around, you have no doubt that you can shrug him off.

"Our deal has nothing to do with the reason that you've been fired. Apparently," you continue, not wanting to let Ted know that it was you who told Marissa of his misdeeds, "Marissa felt the need to contact the authorities. And I'm talking alphabet agencies authorities. You and I both know that they wouldn't give a damn about you firing your employees to make a little extra bonus."

Ted lets go of you and stares off into the distance in thought. He's muttering to himself under his breath, but you can't quite make out what he's saying. You feel confident that you've thrown Ted off your trail, at least for now. Hopefully, he'd focus on his impending legal trouble and ignore your role in his downfall.

Without a word, Ted turns on his heel and departs, and you watch him go. It's an immeasurably worse view than Mary leaving, as your smirk too yourself.

"See ya, Ted. Say hi to Helen for me."

Ted misses a step, but stays silent and redoubles his exit. You smile at your petty hit, and head to your car, eager for your evening with Mary.
