A passport, finally!

Day 30

Dear diary,

So the consulate sent a letter to the hotel today. Miss Jean took it and read it to me. Apparently they are sending a new passport! That's the good news. The bad news is that they expect it to take 6 weeks! I couldn't believe it, and Miss Jean was pissed. I don't know if it was more at me or more at the consulate, but she let me know how difficult a situation I was putting her in. She sent me out to clean the pool immediately, and said she was going to make some calls.

Cleaning the pool is my newest chore. The courtyard at the hotel has a small pool, not really deep, just for relaxing. Leaves and such fall into it, and of course, guests leave trash and such along the edge on the pool chairs. Before, Miss Jean said I didn't have to clean up out there, but now it's my main afternoon chore. The first time I did it was in my regular maid uniform, and I sweated all the way through it. I stunk the rest of the day, and Miss Jean said the guests had complained.

So she suggested the best thing was for me to put on a swim suit while I was working around the pool in the heat, and work in that. The problem of course was the designer swim suit I brought was going to make people think I was a guest, and that a guest was having to do the cleaning around the pool. So she went into the village and bought the only swimsuit they had, a tiny red bikini. I was essentially naked, and after only a few days I was getting pretty tan. She had a pair of red strappy heels she had me wear as well, because she said I couldn't do it barefoot, and certainly not in my flats.

I hate to admit it, but I did look good, and after the first day, Miss Jean told me how great I looked, and that I'd really made the guests feel like the place was more authentic. I was so happy that she was pleased with me. She was so appreciative that she gave me a little kiss on the forehead again, and patted my butt. It gave me a thrill and distracted me for the rest of the day. I can't explain these feelings I'm starting to have for her.
