A nursery

Alexa stared around in wide eyed shock at what she was seeing. Her guest room had been transformed into what looked like a slightly larger nursery.

The walls were painted a bright, pastel pink and were covered in little bunnies and ducklings. The shelves were lined with childish picture books. Stuffed animals, dolls, and other toys littered the floor and shelves.

In the corner of the room, away from the window, was what looked to be a little changing station complete with diapers, wipes, baby powder, and even a diaper pail. Next to the window sat an old-fashioned rocking chair with pink cushions tied to the back and seat.

And then, in the middle of the room, sat the item that got Alexa's attention the most: A crib. It was low to the ground with white, wooden bars and railings. It looked big enough for Alexa to fit in, a small white mattress placed inside along with a pink blanket, a teddy bear, and a stuffed unicorn. Attached to it was a mobile, little multicolored lambs spinning as they dangled from it.

Alexa could only stand there in silence, tears beginning to form in her eyes as her lip began to quiver. Carol saw the look on her face, a look of concern growing on hers.

"You don't like it. I knew it!" Carol said, berating herself. "I just thought that... Well, since you're planning on staying with me as my daughter, I thought that it would be nice to, maybe, relive the experience of being a mother again. I guess that that was just me being stupid, and I'll just - OOF!"

Carol was cut off as Alexa jumped into her arms, the little woman wrapping her short arms and legs around the larger woman. Carol gave a look of surprise as she caught Alexa in her arms, one hand resting under Alexa's diapered rear while the other caressed her bare back.

"I... I love it, Mommy! Thank you!" Alexa sobbed, a large smile on her face. "Nobody's ever done something so nice for me before! This is the best day of my life!"

"And this is the best day of mine!" Carol said, **** back a sob. "All my life I wanted a daughter, and now..." Carol blinked back tears as she returned the smile to Alexa, "Oh dear, we're not going to get anywhere if we both start crying!"

Carol then walked over to the rocking chair, sitting down in it as she laid Alexa down in her lap. The older woman then began to rock the chair back and forth, smiling down at her new daughter.

"By the way," Carol said, "I got your belongings back. I put them in your new closet before I came and got you. That woman was really nice."

She then sighed sadly as she stared down at the little woman in her arms. "I know that you're not really my daughter," she explained before a small smile came to her face, "but just know that I'm here for you and support you on whatever decision you make. If at anytime you want to fly back to New York, just let me know. If you want to ever go back to your adult life, just tell me. You won't hurt me with the truth."

Alexa wiped the tears from her eyes as she snuggled up to Carol, smiling at the woman as she looked her in the eye. "I promise that I'll let you know. Thank you for everything... Mom. I love you."
