Spaghetti Without Noodballs...
A lotta fond memories in those pants
Viola noted Lauren beginning to pull a loaf of sourdough bread from the fridge and tossing it underhanded to Robin, who caught it adroitly.
"He gets to do the Manly Grunting Chores," Lauren smiled at Viola before pulling several white plates with a red rim from a nearby cupboard.
Robin smiled, before entering the kitchen, with a backward glance at Viola.
"So, Open Face Sandwich or Sloppy Joe?" Robin asked as he pulled several slices from the loaf. He grabbed at bottle, and poured something into the pan that Viola had no idea what... Ok, olive oil... interesting, she thought as he began to work at the stove.
"Wait, I thought you said spaghetti," Viola objected.
"Yeah, but we didn't have noodballs at the time," Robin shrugged. "So, spaghetti sauce, some sausage, a little hamburger, a lot of cheese, and olives, and... you got a decent sloppy Joe. Or at least better for you than Taco Bell."
Robin thought fondly of those days. They had been rough, no doubt. But there had been some good times. And almost ever time, he had ended up cooking for somebody. Every woman he'd ever been with, well, he'd sworn he'd never be one of those guys who told a woman to get back in the kitchen.
"What's a noodball?" Viola asked, amused.
"It's what Titania used to call Noodles when she was little," Robin thought about those times. "So, you know, always stuck. If you refuse to call them noodballs, we will all judge you."
"NOODBALLS!" Miranda shouted from upstairs. "I heard Noodballs!"
"No, just Spaghetti," Lauren shouted back. "We're explaining, and Come down here if you want in on the conversation. I'm not yelling through the house."
"You Just DID!" Miranda shouted in response.
"GO TO YOUR ROOM!"
"I'M ALREADY IN MY ROOM!"
"Do not slam your door," Robin sighed quietly, and was relieved when he did not hear the door slam followed by a scream which was the remainder of the joke. "I swear you date a gal who grew up with the same movies as your kids..."
"It was funny the first dozen times, admit it," Lauren grinned. "Lilo and Stich."
Viola nodded at the Disney film. Yeah, she'd seen her share. And the food was starting to smell really good. From Robin's description, it hadn't seemed like much, but... oh wait, he'd asked her a question!
