A long week

The first week back from the mid-semester break was one that Mark would prefer to forget. It was almost as if every teacher he had decided to load him up with as much homework and extra work that they possible could.

Like many others, he was transitioning from a week of drinking and partying to a week of studying. Most nights, Mark found himself trapped in the library. He preferred to work there rather than his own dorm room due to how much of a pain it was to work alongside Dale with his constant video games and tapping away at the keyboard.

One new development on campus was the Hall tournament that was starting to take place this week. Every dorm area had picked out a charity they were playing for and a series of games, tournaments and money raisers had begun.

Mark was someone who participated in the tournament white a bit last year. A lot of it just to impress Tiffany herself.

It probably wasn’t something he was that overly keen on doing this time. Maybe the recent pressure of studying was getting to him a bit.

However, it was on the Friday that he was approached by none other than Tiffany about a certain competition she wanted to see him compete in.

She had walked over to him in the library late in the afternoon as Mark finished up his geography assignment. As usual, she looked fantastic. Tiffany wore tight blue jeans that really hugged her waist, showing off her curves.

Politely smiling and acknowledging him, Tiffany came over to him, “Hey Mark, you got a second?”

“Yeah of course I do, what’s up?”

“I just wanted to put up a proposal for you if you don’t mind,” she told him.

At first, that excited him, the thought that she may actually have something really important to tell him. He nodded, keen to hear her out.

“We’ve got one of the main charity events next week for the tournament,” she said, “It’s a 100 meter sprint and every hall and dormitory have someone representing them.

Mark listened in, knowing where this was going.

“And so we had Steven who was going to do it but he’s just pulled out. And I’ve seen how quick you can run on the football field so uhh what are the chances you’d be interested in taking on something like this?”

He almost straight away nodded back at her, not because he was keen on doing this but just because when a girl like that asks you for a favour, Mark always accepts.

“I’m happy to do that for the hall,” he told her smiling.

Tiffany beamed back at him, “Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. It’s next Friday so you’ve still got a week to prepare.”

Mark nodded before Tiffany said goodbye and walked away, disappearing into the crowded library. He could never understand how she could be so kind and friendly to him after what he did to her this year. It just made him feel that touch bit more guilty than usual.

With his mind now clearly occupied, Mark closed all of his books and laptop and decided to find something else to do.
