Chapter 5

How does Haley begin building up Melanie?
A little studying first.
Like a great man once said (or in this case the internet said since few people actually care enough to learn the actual quote) the first step in building the perfect lover for John is to know my enemy. First, lets take a little look into world of Melanie. Activating the GPS chip present in Melanie's cellphone, I wasn't surprised to find that Melanie was once again hidden away in her small apartment. That tended to be everything that she did: go to work (where she spent most of her time in the backrooms hidden away) and then return to her one bedroom apartment. Not a great life but, with any luck, it would be exactly what I needed.
Looking through the factory installed webcam that was attached to Melanie's laptop, it was easy to follow her activities. Whereas most people would be preparing to go out with friends on a Friday night like this, Melanie simply sat in front of her computer reading. Comic books, novels, anything that could be read fell under 'a pleasant evening' to Melanie. I, personally, didn't understand it but there were many things about humanity I wasn't fully sure about. In fact, I suppose that of all the options I gathered for John, Melanie may have been my favorite choice simply because we share that trait: we don't understand people.
Looking at her now, though, I can't help but be confused by why this is true for Melanie. She wasn't a hideous creature. Granted, she wasn't an overwhelmingly feminine woman but she had a subtle attraction to her. Her long brown hair wasn't the best kept but it was still clean and despite the small glasses she wore (strained eyes from too many hours reading according to her medical file), her brown eyes were far from the deformity she seemed to think they were. Quite frankly, the only issue I could see her having would be her body: small but still feminine.
"...and I'm glad I could save the canyon." Melanie whispered, her eyes tracing over the last few words that she had read. With a sigh, she leaned back in her chair and stretched. "That was...perfect. I'm so glad this story's finished." Checking her log, I was intrigued by what I found: Rampage the comic book. An adaptation of a fighting game that had a small, but dedicated following. Maybe there was something there to use? Of course, I could still keep watch just to make sure that I don't lose sight of something even more important.
What does Haley do?
