A floating sphere

Hovering one mile over Metropolis, Superman was able to see the origin of that strange buzzing...an small basketball-size silver sphere. Fast as a ray of light, Superman flew to the strange sphere.

Floating about a yard away from it, Superman uses his X-ray vision to see through the metal but, to his surprise, his X-ray vision is useless to see inside it. He contemplates what to do next, as he shoots a beaming hot ray of heat from his eyes, trying to get some reaction from the sphere, but all it does is float, buzzing. He decides then, to rely on his super strength, as the man of steel takes the orb into his powerful and large hands.

To his surprise, his attempts to open, dent, even move the sphere are useless. Suddenly, the strange orb becomes cold and its buzzing silences. On the silver, homogeneous surface of the orb a hole begins to open as it whirs very quietly.

With curiosity, Superman tries to see inside. Then...
