“So that’s it.”

“What do you mean that’s it? Two inmates were found dead in your cell, one with multiple stab wounds and one with his neck broken, though how is questionable because there was nothing there that showed how such a thing happened except for a small smudge of blood on the wall on the underside of the top bunk.”

The prison investigator was frustrated, it was obvious.

“Like I said, all I know is there was a big guy fucking my cell mate, and then another bigger guy came in and attacked the first one. The big guy had enough strength to grapple with the bigger guy and slammed his head into the wall. And that’s all I know, like I’ve said the last five times before.”

“I call bullshit Cross. You knew both of those men, don’t lie and say you didn’t.” The investigator smirked.

“I didn’t lie. I was simply giving you events from my point of view, and at the time I did not know who was in my cell either fucking my cell mate or killing the guy fucking him. It was dark.... plus, have you spoken with the guard on how two men got into my cell?”

A loud sigh.

“Also, did you ask my cell mate? Maybe he knows why they attacked each other.”

A louder sigh.

“We did. He says it was jealousy.” The man took out a cigarette and lit it with a gold plated lighter, flipping the lid back on when the cigarette flared red. “Last question. Why did Charlie not attack you? By all accounts, you two were not friendly.”

“Not sure myself. Honesty, I think he was blinded by what I guess was jealousy if what my ‘celly’ said was accurate. He only saw what angered him.”

The man put his lighter away and blew smoke into Damien’s face.

“Get the fuck back to your cell convict.” He raised his voice. “Get this fucker out of here!”

The guard outside entered, uncuffed Damien from the table, rebuffed his wrists together, and together they left the room.
