Chapter 4 by Veiled Veiled

She seemed excited

A few days pass

A couple days after you snooped on Jill’s phone, you noticed that she had started texting and using Snapchat a lot more. You were curious about who she was texting and messaging, fearing the worst, but she always made sure you couldn’t look over her shoulder. This suspense was too much, but you knew you’d seem paranoid if you simply asked her about it. One day while she’d left her phone on the charger and was distracted with cooking, you went to secretly check her phone again. You entered her password but found to your surprise that your access was denied. Apparently she was onto you, because she had changed her password. You felt a little embarrassed. She’d had the same password for years, so this sudden change had to be because she’d seen through you. She knew you didn’t trust her. You thought about apologizing, but then again maybe she only had suspicions rather than knowing what you’d done. Better to just try to make it up to her. You walked into the kitchen thinking about fun things you could do with her over the upcoming weekend.

Whatever she was making for dinner smelled good. She’d always been a pretty good cook, which you were really grateful for, since your culinary ability left a lot to be desired. You walked up behind her as she worked at the stove. Letting your body press on hers from behind, your groin against her toned ass as you looked over her shoulder. “Hey, so I was thinking about this weekend. Should we see a movie, or maybe hit the beach, get together with friends… what do you think?” You asked, rattling off some options. She was distracted at first with stirring a pot, but when you mentioned those possibilities she glanced up at you. “Oh, you know it’s funny you say that- one of my friends recently moved to this area and I’ve been meaning to get together with him.” She told you. For a moment you wondered who she was talking about, but then a certain possibility struck you. Even still, you didn’t say it out loud. “Oh cool, who is it? What’s their name?” You asked, hoping your suspicion was wrong. “It’s my old friend James! The one I ran into at the gym.” She said, sounding cheerful about the prospect of getting together with him. You felt just the opposite. “You mean your ex? Wouldn’t that be kind of awkward?” You asked, and at this sudden negativity she paused in her stirring.

She turned and looked up at you, cocking a skeptical eyebrow. “Well, yeah, that type of thing can be a little awkward at first, but all of that history between us was years ago. We’re just old friends now. It’s really not a big deal.” She said, sounding a little frustrated with you. You shrugged. “I don’t know. I’ve never met him, and I don’t really know anything about him, so- I’m not really sure how fun it would be.” You said vaguely, hoping she’d get the message that you weren’t interested in any type of meetup. She shrugged in return. “Alright, sure, I get that.” She said tersely, turning away from you and returning her attention to her cooking. “You don’t have to come then.” She said simply, not looking at you.

You blinked in surprise. “What do you mean?” You asked, caught off guard. She still focused on preparing the food in front of her, not meeting your gaze. “Well he offered to have us over his place. I thought since he’s new in town and doesn’t know a lot of people in this area we could be nice and have him over, but if you don’t want to that’s fine.” She said, that same undercurrent of irritation in her voice. You didn’t like this situation at all. You didn’t want her hanging around with her ex. Someone she had ‘history’ with. But if the options were agreeing to host him here or letting her go to his place by herself, what should you do?

You make a decision
