A different side

It took me longer than I thought It would do to get back. Turns out drunk people are harder to guide home than I thought. Kish had thrown up one more time on the way back. When I finally got back to the flats i found Laura and Clarky outside still making out it seemed. I went to say hi and then thought better of it when I saw Clarky's hand inside Laura's skirt that had become slightly under. She had her eyes closed while he nibbled her ear. She was letting out soft moans as Clarky's had moved within her skirt. I stood there watching for a moment when Kish retched and snapped me out of it.

Me: 'Better get you some water and back to bed mate'

Kish tried to reply but it just turned into another retch. The other two still hadn't noticed us, I saw Laura move her hands though as she started to fumble with Clarky's belt. Lucky bastard, I thought to myself. Another guy who can get laid while I'm stuck with this drunken mess. With that, I headed into the building, we took the list up which turned out to be a bad idea. The motion of the list moving only set Kish off again and as soon as we got to his door he couldn't hold it in any more and he threw some more bile upon the door.

I realised I didn't have a keycard to get into his room, so laid him on the floor while I fumbled through his pockets till I found his wallet. Bingo! The card was in there. I opened the door and cringed slightly as it slammed behind me. I hope I didn't wake anyone. Not sure which room was Kish's I started to try his keycard on all the doors, as I got to the 2nd one on the right the door opened. I was surprised to see Jake there standing topless, he had some beads of water dripping off of him.

Jake: 'Alex, what are you doing here'

I indicated towards kish who was lying down still by the front door.

Jake: 'Ah, yeah he's a bit of a lightweight isn't he'

Me: 'why are you all wet?'

Jake: 'wet? Oh yeah, that. I like to have a shower before I go to sleep after a night out, makes you feel much better in the morning'

Me: 'I'll keep that one in mind'

Jake: 'So how was your night?'

Me: 'was good fun, although that one that completely ruined my chances with Kate tonight'

Jake: 'ah sorry man. I'll tell you what though ill sort him out for you, thanks for getting him home though. Emma would probably kill me if he hadn't got back ok'

Me: 'why would Emma kill you?

Jake: 'she has a soft spot for him'

I hadn't noticed anything of the sort but then I wasn't really looking or spent much time with either.

Me: 'how come you disappeared early tonight?'

Jake: 'Oh I got a message from someone and had to go help them out. Was a big thing they needed help with'

I thought I heard someone snigger from somewhere, then Kish retched again.

Jake: 'better sort him out, hadn't I'

Me: 'I will leave him in you capable hands then'

I headed out of the flat and stepped over Kish who mumbled something that sounded like 'hell of a night mate' I guessed.

Me: 'Oh yeah by the way he may have made a mess on the front door'

Jake: 'Great. But really thanks man, see you around.'

He gave me a warm smile as Kish mumbled something incomprehensible from the floor.

The door to flat 205 started to close behind me I couldn't help but think how different Jake seemed just now compared to the rest of the night. Gone was that arrogant person who dismissed Kish and Laura like they were nobody. Instead, he just seemed like a caring guy who was looking out for his flatmates, I would even go so far as to say kind. Confusing guy indeed.

I could hear Clarky and Laura in the stairwell now but decided that it was unlikely anything else exciting was going to happen tonight for me. I headed toward the front door of flat 206.
